Set 2 of 6 in the 2009 Legacy Collection Geonosis Arena Showdown sub line is another winner. Here we get Kit Fist filling in the position of the Jedi, and he’s paired up with a Geonosian Warrior. Unlike set 1, which matched Coleman Trebor and Jango Fett, these two characters didn’t actually face off with each other on film.  But it’s still an opportunity to add what is likely the best Geonosian Warrior to your collection, while also getting a pretty good Kit Fisto that works pretty well as a representation of his iconic moment.

As mentioned in yesterday’s review, the unique packaging of these sets stand out nicely, and they all join together to give you a cardboard semi-circle as an arena backdrop.  The figures are both high quality, and at the time of release, were a steal at the $12.99 MSRP.

Kit Fisto had been released a few times already, but this was definitely the best one.  It was surpassed by VC29 in The Vintage Collection overall, but it still holds a place in your collection because of the scene specific nature of the sculpt.  It is super articulated with ball joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, knees, and ankles, along with swivels at the waist, wrists, and hips.  The head sculpt is one of the more elaborate, as is necessary for a member of the Nautolan species.  The head tails are nicely sculpted, and the face expressive.  Hasbro actually tried to give us the smiling Kit Fisto from the moment where he Force-pushed the Threepio-headed Battle droid, but unfortunately they missed the mark a bit.  He looks more like he’s gritting his teeth than grinning.  But still, it’s the closest to the movie moment of any Fisto figure.  To complete the idea, the figure comes with the open-palmed right hand, so that he can execute said Force-push.  When posed like the movie, he looks great.

The companion figure is a Geonosian Warrior, representing the Separatist combatants.  This figure is the best Geonosian sculpt available. It took the already outstanding Saga Collection 016 Sun Fac, and added the much needed ball joints knees, while also giving it a distinctive paint scheme.  This updated sculpt was re-issued a few times down the road, including for an updated Sun Fac in the weird and short-lived Legacy Collection “2” (“Droid Factory”) line.  The figure has ball joints at the neck, shoulders, elbows, knees, and ankles, as well as swivels at the waist, hips, and wrists.  He comes with his blaster cannon, which he can grip Jesse Ventura/Cara Dune style.

It’s an outstanding 2-pack, and gets a 7.5, but we’ll round up to an 8 because of the MSRP and packaging.
