The Legacy Collection Geonosis Arena Showdown 2-packs were among some of the best offerings in Hasbro’s history.  $12.99 got you two figures, which were either new characters, upgrades to existing characters, or at the very least, repacks/repaints of the best characters sculpts available at the time.  And for that $12.99, you got figures that had premium contemporary articulation.  A basic TLC figure at the time ran you $8, so this was an outstanding deal.  The 6 sets each contained one Jedi and one Separatist.  The packaging was an attractive window box, with angled sides that allowed you to connect all 6 together to make a semi-circle.  The cardboard inserts had arena graphics, so they made a nice large background for the figures.  If you were going to keep the packaging from any of your opened figures, these would be prime candidates.

In the first set, we got Coleman Trebor as the Jedi.  This guy (named after ILMer Robert Coleman) was a Jedi Council member, and can be spotted serving on the Council in Attack of the Clones, and also wandering the halls of the Temple.  However, for Geonosis, he is can be recognized from his appearance as the last Jedi that ignites his saber when the Jedi Strike Team enters Petranaki Arena.  However, according to sources, there is actually a bit of a blooper here.  In the first of these shots, there is a hand in the foreground that ignites a green lightsaber, followed by Plo Kool, Ki-Adi Mundi, and then Aayla Secura.  That hand is supposedly meant to be that of Coleman Trebor.  We then see almost his entire person in the aforementioned final shot, along with Bultar Swan.  Weirdly, he his therefore both the first and last Jedi in the introductory montage.  But wait, there’s more!  Coleman Trebor jumps onto the VIP balcony during the fight.  Dooku is even less impressed than Kayla Maroney, and Jango makes quick work of the Jedi with a couple of blaster shots.  Weak, I say.

Anyway, the figure is excellent.  He’s got solid articulation, and a great sculpt.  It’s a tremendous improvement over his first figure from 2002.  Frankly, that figure wasn’t bad for the time.  Yeah, it’s in an action pose, but the sculpt and articulation were pretty decent.  Oddly, he had one ball jointed ankle.  He’s probably among the earliest figures to feature that articulation type at the ankle.  It was so special, Hasbro only gave him one.  But more on that when that release gets a proper review from someone here at Banthaskull.  This one is pretty darn near perfect for a 2009 figure.  I would only complain that the grip on the lightsaber is a little weak, but otherwise, it’s a terrific figure.

Jango Fett seems to be a fitting Separatist companion for the Vurk Jedi, as the two faced off to the death.  This is an outstanding Jango figure.  It’s a repack from the Evolutions set in 2008, but with a strangely very purple jumpsuit.  Also, the Evolutions figure came with a pilot headset.  If you can get past those two issues, it’s an outstanding figure.  It’s bettered a bit by VC34 from The Vintage Collection, but that figure is hampered by the sculpted “gauntlet razors” that Jango only used for a few moments while breaking his slide down the side of the platform on Tipoca City.  This version is excellent, and can be used in most scenes in which Jango appears.  He works very well in your Geonosis Arena displays.

Overall, this is an excellent set from an excellent sub line.  They’re kind of tough to find on Ebay, but you can probably score one for around $35 if you try hard enough.  8/10 overall.
