Geonosis 3 - Execution Arena

Description:

Following their capture after a bungled rescue attempt, Anakin and Padmé are sentenced to a public execution in Petranaki Arena. They are chained in place at the center of the arena along with Obi-Wan Kenobi. As Poggle the Lesser initiates the activities and festivities, Separatist dignitaries join him on a balcony high above the arena floor. There, they watch as three vicious beasts emerge from the gates, to the delight of the capacity Geonosian crowd in attendance. A fracas ensues, but the three heroes are eventually subdued...

Notes:
1.  The most disappointing thing about the Arena Playset is the lack of space on the main balcony. There's some photo trickery here to make these 5 figures appear to fit (they don't). But worse, there is no room for the missing Rune Haako figure.
2.  The second most disappointing thing about the arena playset is that it only comes with 2 columns.
3.  The reek is really an excellent toy. Great sculpt and paint. The sounds are pretty decent as well.
4.  The Acklay is pretty nice as a toy, but the leg joints are frustrating to engage. True ball joints at all 6 "hips" and "knees" would really help this achieve something closer to greatness.
5.  The Nexu is well done, although posability is limited. The opening jaw works nicely for this particular shot.
6.  Using the included cardboard backdrops really extend the play area of the arena playset and expand the display possibilities.
7.  This is what the break-apart columns were made for.
8.  The Black Series Anakin has perfect lower body articulation (including rocker ankles!!) to properly ride on the reek's back. Also note that once again (as with the first screenshot) there is no Orray beast toy.
9.  At this point in the chronology of the battle, you'd need to switch out the Evolutions Padmé with the Black Series figure, which has the scratch wounds and ripped outfit.
10.  This new Padmé works for when she gets her revenge on that cat.
11.  Give VC31 Obi-Wan the spear from the Saga 03-01 Obi-Wan to pull off this scene.
12.  Here's where the big wound on the Saga Nexu comes in handy.
13.  Here's that spear from Saga 03-01 Obi-Wan again.
14.  Any of the Droidekas listed below will work, along with the rolling one from the Clone Wars (2003) Deluxe Destroyer Droid Deluxe Battle Launcher.
15.  The lack of ball jointed hips makes it difficult for Padmé to sit on the Reek (although it is otherwise an outstanding figure). TBS Anakin and TVC Obi-Wan sit well. Throw in a bunch of Droidekas, and you've just completed the execution phase of Geonosis.

Alternate Figure Photos:
In some cases, there is no consensus definitive version of a figure, or another figure could be used as a substitute.

Notes:
1.  Orray custom by @lordsixthcustoms on Instagram.
2.  Hasbro really missed the boat here.
3.  Can't do this fun moment without and orray.
4.  Orray needs a cart, too...

Action Figures/Items Used:
The following figures were used in the above photos. These figures represent what the Bantha Skull staff considers as the best version of the respective characters. Click through on the following entries to go to that figure's full gallery. If that figure was part of a multi-pack, you will be brought to the gallery for just that figure. From there you can click through to the parent set.

The Missing:
These are characters that belong in this scene for which Hasbro has never made a figure. These characters are all featured in our Unproduced Character Guide which we have affectionately nicknamed Missing In Action Figure or M.I.A.F. for short. Clicking through on the following entries will bring you to the M.I.A.F. entry for that character.

Rune Haako is a big miss to complete the balcony subset of the arena scene. The Orray with the cart and Geonosian picador seems like something Hasbro should have done back during the AOTC era of figures. We'll probably never get it at this point, but the beast has a prominent role throughout the execution scene as well as the follow on attack by the Jedi Strike Team. If Hasbro made an Orray, I'd buy several. In the meantime, I have an outstanding custom Orray crafted by the super talented @lordsixthcustoms (on Instagram).
