Well, this is it.  The final episode of Star Wars: Droids.  And what a long strange trip it’s been.  It seems like ages ago that 3PO and R2 were taking on the Fromm gang with Thall Joben or hanging out with Uncle Gundy.  Will this episode cap off the series with a fitting finale, like M*A*S*H, or will it be confusing and disappointing like Lost?  Probably somewhere in the middle.

Can you believe we’re down to the last two episodes of Star Wars: Droids?  Well, we are.  This week is “Across the Roon Sea.”  I’m hoping the entire episode is Mungo and the droids in a rowboat.  That will make the review easy to write.

It’s Saturday, so it’s time for Droids.  This week we get the exciting Roon Games.  It’s like the Olympics only super weird.

We will return to our regularly scheduled Sail Barge Victory Tour coverage momentarily, but this morning we’ll take a break to look at the 10th episode of Star Wars Droids, “Tail of the Roon Comets.”  It’s a silly and confusing episode which answers the age-old question, “What would C-3PO look like with a goatee?”

There’s no better way to wash away the stink of “Coby and the Starhunters” than jumping ahead to “The Great Heep”.  Though this double-length special episode originally ran 6 months after the series ended, it fits chronologically between episodes 9 and 10 of the original run.  This episode introduces Mungo Baobab, and begins the story arc written by Star Wars legend, Oscar winner, and frequent Bantha Skull visitor*, Ben Burtt.  Enjoy!

It’s time for “Coby and the Starhunters.”  I’m sorry.  I’m really sorry.
I’m sure there’s a band somewhere named Coby and the Starhunters.  That band is probably better than this episode.

It’s time for the “Revenge of Kybo Ren.”  Kybo Ren is back!  And he wants revenge.  Will he get it?  Or will he be defeated by the combined power of his own incompetence and C-3PO?  I really hope Episode IX is called The Revenge of Kylo Ren.  It would really bring it all back full circle.

We’ve made it to Episode 7.  Not to be confused with Episode VII.  The droids continue their wacky adventures with Jann and Jess against “The Pirates of Tarnoonga.”  I once spent a weekend in Tarnoonga.  Or maybe it was Raleigh.  I get those two confused.

Settle in on this lazy Saturday to learn about “the New King.”  If you paid attention last week, you probably know who the new king is, but titles can be misleading.  Like Attack of the Clones.  The important thing here is that it’s definitely Saturday and not Sunday.  Saturday and Sunday agreed to switch positions this week.  Also, this episode is tangentially related to the Haslab Sail Barge that I’ve been told is very popular right now.

As we anxiously await the reports from Toy Fair to start coming in, let’s settle in for Star Wars Droids: Episode 5, The Lost Prince.  With Thall Joben and the Fromm gang behind us, what new adventures will our mechanical heroes find next?  Will they get a new generic human master?  Which Original Trilogy characters will make a surprise cameo this week?  Is this the year Hasbro finally announces a Proto One figure?  Stay Tuned!

This morning we review “A Race to the Finish,” the fourth episode of Star Wars: Droids.  This episode is notable for a surprise visit from a popular character from the Original Trilogy.  Which character, you ask?  You will have to read it to find out.  It could be anyone.  Even Boba Fett.  It’s Boba Fett.

We’re back with the review of the third episode of Star Wars: Droids, “The Trigon Unleashed.”  This was the first in a long line of things to be unleashed in the Star Wars universe.  Is this one more like The Force Unleashed, or that one Padme figure that wasn’t allowed to be sold in Utah?

It’s Saturday morning again, so we’re back with another review of Star Wars: Droids.  Today’s episode is “Escape into Terror!”

I suspect that whoever came up with the title for this episode didn’t actually watch it.  It’s like one of those generic action movie titles from a TV show that doesn’t want to name actual movies.  Like Death Blow or Prognosis Negative.

Anyway, click through to see whether this episode lives up to the exciting promise of its name…

Editor’s Note:  What’s better on a Saturday morning than a nostalgic review of a Star Wars cartoon from the 80’s?  Nothing!  So go grab a bowl of Cookie Crisp, and thank CJ for making Saturday awesome!

A few weeks ago I decided to give Rebels another chance.  But it’s not on Netflix, and I don’t feel like tracking it down anywhere else.  So, instead I decided to rewatch the entire Star Wars: Droids series from 1985.  For your entertainment, I will post here my reviews of each glorious episode.  Presumably Nomadscout (Bret) will be compelled to purchase and review all the vintage Droids figures as a companion piece.  Especially the ones they never released.
