Scene It
The Cantina

Description:

The Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina scene in Mos Eisley is one of the most iconic in the history of cinema. In terms of quality, there have been better executed creature and alien menagerie scenes both from within and without Star Wars, but this is the first. It is perhaps one of the two most memorable scenes in the history of Star Wars. We are currently in the midst of the #FightForTVC campaign at the time of this publication. We feel like the best arguments for the 3.75" are made by the line itself. The Cantina scene argues on behalf of itself.

If you haven't done so already, please sign the petition for Hasbro to make more NEW 3.75" Star Wars Vintage Collection figures per year, and maybe we can cross some of the unmade Cantina characters off the list.

News Photo
The famous opening shot with the photobombing Hem Dazon.
News Photo
The second group shot shows us Muftak, Lirin Car’n, Djas Puhr and Myo,
News Photo
Feltipern Trevagg and M’iiyoom Onith canoodle. Get a room, you two.
News Photo
In the original cut, we get a glam shot of Arleil Schous.
News Photo
In the Special Edition, it's replaced with a shot of Melas.
News Photo
Right after Luke walks in, we get a wide panning shot showing the craziness he's seeing for the first time. We don't have many of these figures. The Rodian is Neesh and not Greedo.
News Photo
The shot pans over to the right. We have more figures from this side. Zutton (dark, full-haired Snivvian) appears to be in the alcove behind Chewbacca. Mosep is in the foremost alcove.
News Photo
This image is color corrected. As the camera continues to the right, we can can make out Greedo and Wioslea sitting with Mosep. Via behind the scenes shots, we know Bo Shek is in this alcove too.
News Photo
Kabe gets service despite her size.
News Photo
Labria gets a glam shot.
News Photo
We highly suspect that the band wasn't present at Elstree Studios and these were pick up shots at Hollywood Center Studios.
News Photo
Bo Shek tells Ben to take a hike.
News Photo
Goldenrod sets off the droid detector. You can see Debnoli and Takeel in the bottom right. Takeel is identifiable as the Snivvian with patchy, auburn hair.
News Photo
For reasons that aren't quite clear, Wuher bounces the droids. Zutton moves quick. He's now at the bar on the far left of the frame.
News Photo
The Tonnika Sisters and an unidentified moisture farmer. I would take figures of all three.
News Photo
Here we see Neesh again (not Greedo) with Nabrun Leids and two of the cantina "spacers".
News Photo
Kabe cutely downs her drink between two ruffians.
News Photo
Trouble is already brewing. Luke gets a stare down.
News Photo
Ellorrs Madak and Baniss Keeg have a conversation.
News Photo
Dice Ibegon and Lak Sivrak square off in the original edit of the cantina scene..
News Photo
Lak Sivrak is replaced by Ketwol in the Special Edition.
News Photo
Perhaps one of the most memorable alcove shots shows Momaw Nadon (right), Trinto Duaba (middle) and M’iiyoom Onith (left).
News Photo
Image is color corrected. Dr. Evazan keeps a running total of the people who don't like Luke.
News Photo
Evazan tosses Luke into the table in the first alcove with the "Unidentified Bald Man" and Mosep. He also draws down on Obi-Wan...
News Photo
...And it didn't go the way the doctor thought it would go.
News Photo
After the conflict, we see one of the Snivvians on the right side of the frame in the second alcove. It appears to be Zutton with a full head of dark hair. Greedo was also in the scene a few frames earlier.
News Photo
Garouf Lafoe makes his cantina debut as Luke and Obi-Wan walk past toward Han's alcove.
News Photo
He's Han Solo, captain of the Millennium Falcon.
News Photo
Luke's not such a bad pilot himself.
News Photo
Some Sandtroopers are investigating that bit of nastiness with Dr. Evazan.
News Photo
As the Sandtroopers make their way to Han's table, you can clearly see Takeel to the left of the frame.
News Photo
Oonta goota, Solo?
News Photo
Image has been brightened. That is reportedly the back of Elis Helrot's head as he talks with Ellorrs Madak over Greedo's left shoulder.
News Photo
Greedo got Maclunkeyed.
News Photo
In the first reaction shot to the shooting, we see Takeel is now somewhere with Reegesk and a Jawa.
News Photo
In the second reaction shot, we finally see Myo's cycloptic face.
News Photo
Image is color corrected. As Han departs, we can see that Takeel is back near Han's alcove. Those Snivvians must teleport. Moesp has taken Debnoli's seat from earlier.

Notes:
1.  This is the opening shot with only the figures we actually have.
2.  The second group shot with only the figures we have.
3.  The figures nuzzle nicely, bit you'll need to give Feltipern a bit of a boost to achieve this pose.
4.  We are missing A LOT of the figures from the left side of the bar. Removing the vest from the VTSC Greedo makes a passable Neesh figure.
5.  The right side of the bar is better populated with figures. Atheloe seated at the table in the lower right foreground is the biggest figure omission.
6.  Continuing the wide panning shot, Greedo and Wioslea come into frame.
7.  Kabe gets her drink.
8.  Labria mugs it up for the camera.
9.  The Bith musician figure could use an update.
10.  The POTJ Bo Shek is dated, but serves its purpose.
11.  Debnoli's balding head is conspicuously missing from this shot.
12.  Rycar Ryjerd is missing from the "we don't server their kind" shot.
13.  Sadly, the Kabe figure cannot hold the glass in two hands like in the screenshot.
14.  In the bottom right of this pic, Hrchek Kal Fas is leaning in to talk to Rycar Ryjerd. I would love to get a figure of Rycar, but it will probably never happen.
15.  This pic is very silly with out a figure of Ellorrs Madak's conversation partner, Baniss Keeg
16.  Ah the original Original Trilogy with Lak Sivrak.
17.  The POTJ Ketwol overwrites poor Lak.
18.  Of the three table groupings, this is the only one we have complete.
19.  Thankfully, the Vintage Collection brought us updated figures of Dr. Evazan and Ponda Baba.
20.  Setting up this shot reminded me how much of a pain the bar section bases are.
21.  In all shots with the Legacy Collection Obi-Wan, I had to tape the robe down.
22.  I prefer the head sculpt on the Yavin Ceremony Han Solo.
23.  So many characters in the background of this shot are missing, headlined by the Tonnika Sisters.
24.  The lack of ball jointed shoulders on Wuher are conspicuous for this shot.
25.  It would be good to get an update of Takeel.
26.  The Greedo figure would actually benefit from ball jointed wrists to strike this pose.
27.  Elis Helrot finally makes an on-screen appearance. Barely.
28.  The immovable holster makes this pose very difficult for our best Han Solo figure.
29.  Myo turns his eye towards the malfeasance across the way.
30.  Han Solo stays cool as a cucumber throughout.

Alternate Figure Photos:
In some cases, there is no consensus definitive version of a figure, or another figure could be used as a substitute.

Notes:
1.  Using the Lak Sivrak figures as a stand in for Arleil Schous for the first group shot.
2.  Using a Bith Musician as a stand in for Lirin Car'n for the second group shot.
3.  The panning shot using the white jumpsuit POTF2 Nabrun Leids.
4.  The "We don't serve their kind" shot with the POTF2 Wuher and TSC Nabrun Leids.
5.  The "We don't serve their kind" shot with the OTC Wuher and the POTF2 Nabrun Leids.

Action Figures/Items Used:
The following figures were used in the above photos. These figures represent what the Bantha Skull staff considers as the best version of the respective characters. Click through on the following entries to go to that figure's full gallery. If that figure was part of a multi-pack, you will be brought to the gallery for just that figure. From there you can click through to the parent set.

* Bantha Skull is compensated for any purchases made through any Ebay links that may appear below.

Notes:
We listed both versions of Wuher and Nabrun Leids because we feel like neither are terrific choices, and it's a "pick your poison" situation. You'll have to choose which one suits you best.

Also, based on the best information we have at this time, we are calling the patchy haired Snivvian "Takeel" and the dark haired Snivvian "Zutton". We know this runs contrary to the famous "Rogues Gallery" feature from Star Wars Insider, but we feel this is the up to date canonical naming.

The Missing:
These are characters that belong in this scene for which Hasbro has never made a figure. These characters are all featured in our Unproduced Character Guide which we have affectionately nicknamed Missing In Action Figure or M.I.A.F. for short. Clicking through on the following entries will bring you to the M.I.A.F. entry for that character.

The list of missing characters is not comprehensive, but we highlighted the most important.
