I’m always looking to fill in holes in my Vintage Collection carded collection (unpunched of course). I stumbled across Ebay seller landbaronus who had several items that I currently need. I’m personally shocked to see what the secondary market for these figures is with Kit Fisto taking the top spot at $51 with 9 hours to go. There is no question that the Vintage Collection has enormous collector viability. Unfortunately Hasbro can’t turn that into big box retail viability (and maybe no one can).
While contained plasma swords that clash with each other as if they were solids are probably a physical impossibility, sometimes science does catch up with our beloved science fiction. A California start-up company called Ostendo Technologies has spent nine years developing tiny holographic projectors which they claim are almost ready for commercial release. This means smart phones and watches with 3D holographic projections are close to becoming a reality. Of course I know what you’re all thinking: when will Sideshow announce a lifesized R2-D2 that actually projects a holographic Princess Leia.
Thanks to our own Darth Dre for alerting us to this. Mint In Box has a first look at the Star Wars Hot Wheels line.
After much recent internet indignation, Disney told TIME on Wednesday that it would add Princess Leia toys to its existing Star Wars merchandise line soon.
Jedi Temple Archives has en early look at wave 4 of the Black Series in-hand. The results are mixed. Click through for the almost worrisome results on Yoda.
We’ve posted links to Vesa Lehtimäki’s Flickr page in the past which contains amazingly quasi-lifelike photos of LEGO dioramas. Now CNN’s Headline News has interviewed the man behind the magic. HLN needs to interview Boutros77 next.
Flickr user Jerac has posted pictures of his build of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s flagship, the imperial star destroyer Chimaera. This massive hunk of Lego weighs 110 lbs, consists of 40,000 bricks, cost $5,000 and took nearly six months to assemble. Wow.
According to a fan poll at Empire Online, The Empire Strikes Back is the top film off all time edging out customary favorite The Godfather. A New Hope grabs the number six spot while my beloved Jedi ranks a lowly 120. The list compiles the top 301 movies and I’m guessing there is a typo somewhere because Attack of the Clones doesn’t make the list.
In addition to the previous revealed Endor set, Rebelscum has the scoop on a Cantina Showdown and a Jabba’s Rancor Pit set which are showing up in Toys R Us UK computers.
runDisney has announced that a Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend is coming to the Disneyland Resort in California on January 15-18, 2015. If you don’t have 13 miles in your legs, there are also 10 and 5K races.
I thought this was pretty fun. Gamespot compiles 30 years of Battle of Hoth video game history in advance of the presumed first look at Battlefront 3 at E3.
This isn’t fresh news. but Thea and Liana Shengelaya, better known as the Healer Twins, were on set for four days of filming in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi = Tatooine. Tatooine = Cantina. Mysterious sisters in the cantina. Are we sure Episode VII isn’t the best possible cover title for an Episode IV remake?
According to the site Metro UK, Disney has canceled the free-to-play space combat simulator Attack Squadrons and speculate that this could mean a return to the X-Wing video game franchise.
