I think we all knew that Disney wouldn’t miss the chance to ring the cash register on this one.  Now that emotion is removed from the equation and only business motives factor into the equation, it seems like the consumer is going to get what they wanted all along.  According to Bleeding Cool, they have intercepted a e-mail, which supposedly originates from Disney’s marketing department and indicates that The House of Mouse plans to release the unaltered (pre Special Edition) Original Trilogy in Blur-Ray format in advance of Episode VII.

No longer will a feared hired gun miss a near contact shot!  Also, the linked article contains a very flimsy rumor that the Prequel Trilogy could get phased out and lumped in with the Legends non-canon banner.  Again, this one is flimsy.  But someone alert Eddie From Dorkside Toys!

We knew Medicom was going to start producing 6” Star Wars figure.  Their 6 inch MAFEX Darth Vader was revealed CafeReo Character Convention in Japan!

According to Yahoo UK there is a legal battle brewing over the contract to provide the hundreds of extras for Episode VII which may delay shooting.  The article even indicates for what those extras would be needed.  I think one we probably assumed, but the other is for a popular non-human species, so don’t click through if you consider that spoiler information.  Using extras for these roles instead of using CGI models with jarringly unnatural locomotion is a huge positive.  Hopefully this legal battle doesn’t tempt JJ do the darkside of CGI.

It was on this day 15 years ago that I spent the longest day of my life at work.  That work day was interminable.  Worse was the two hour wait between the end of the work day and the showtime of the viewing to which I purchased tickets a week prior.  All was still in front of us at that point and the Prequel Trilogy was still full of potential.  On May 19th, 1999, Star Wars Episode I:  The Phantom Menace opened in theaters and the rest is awkward CGI history.

Wish you were there, but can’t make it?  Here’s the next best thing.  Attractions Magazine has uploaded a video of the entire parade to their YouTube channel.

The action figure aisle at my local Toys R Us has restocked.  I sat down in the aisle and cried.  Were they tears of joy or tears of frustration?  You’ll have to click through to find out.

We’ve linked to several articles recently that indicated that second unit photograph has already started and that principal photography would begin around today’s date (I checked those reports and they were pretty close give or take a few days).  Anyway, the Bad Robot Twitter account made it official by tweeting out the below image under the hashtag #dayone

It looks like this is shaping up to be a video game Thursday.  TekRevue has compiled a list of the 10 worst Star Wars video games ever.  I bought two of them.

I could by cynical about this, but I’m not.  The fact that Andy Serkis is “extremely excited” about his upcoming role in Episode VII has me excited.  I’m getting to the point where I need to devise some sort of Eric Cartman like scheme so I can freeze myself until December 2015 to avoid the wait.
