In a pinch-hitting role today at The Hasbro New York Toy Fair Event, I interviewed Jeff Labovitz, the Global Marketing Director, Star Wars at Hasbro.  I’ve had very brief interactions with him at past events, but this was the first interview I’ve done with him (or anyone for that matter.)  Jeff was very pleasant to talk to, and while I certainly wasn’t carrying on hard-hitting journalism, I do hope that I conveyed to him some of the feelings our Banthaskull community is experiencing regarding the line.  I want to thank Jeff for taking the time to focus on my questions and providing me with some insight behind the scenes of Hasbro Star Wars.

Just a reminder that we are getting live updates from inside the Toy Fair presentation on our Live Blog.  The Star Wars presentation hasn’t started yet, but they’re already through My Little Pony and Transformers and currently on Kreo.

USA Today has revealed the upcoming Karan figure in advance of Toy Fair.  Continuing Hasbro’s trend of copying Mattel and their hugely successfully minimally articulated Green Lantern and Superman figures, the figure sports 5 points of articulation.

We’re finally caught up on the Black Series.  Well the 3.75” scale line anyway.  To conclude wave 3, here’s Mace Windu as he appeared in the Clone Wars.

Freddie Prinz Jr. voices the character of Kanan

The site Hit Flix is reporting that Star Wars Episode VII will shoot from May through September and that the principal casting is complete.  The fact that principal casting is complete is a bit of a surprise since no confirmations have been made directly by the production team.

There is an amazing 123 piece Vintage Collection lot up for auction which includes many (if not all) wave 1 and 2 figures as well as other hard to find items such as Ponda Baba and the Echo Base Trooper.

Chief Executive Brian Goldner called 2013 “a nonmovie year” when explaining a dip in boys’ lines sales, and is banking on 2014 movie properties to right the ship.
