Ah, man. I had so many liters of beer last night.
Assuming the Mayans are wrong (or more accurately the crack pots interpreting the Mayan calendar are wrong), you will be able pick up figures from the “middle” waves of 2012 at retail starting in February of 2013. I’m assuming this is brick and mortar retail otherwise this isn’t really news.
For those of you missing out on Ponba Baba, the big news is that…you’re still going to be missing out on Ponda Baba. But take heart! Bom Vimdin gets his 5th crack at a retail assortment which is good news for all of you who missed this figure when it was selling for $1 on Amazon (I kid you not). Also, thankfully that icky Bastila Shan figure isn’t part of this “best of the best” lineup. The last thing we need is more of that awesome and expensive figure on the market.
You may be thinking that my cynical remarks are out of line and that we should be thankful for Hasbro getting these figures to stores, and truth be told getting these cases out to retail is admirable. But what I can’t abide is the spin making it seem like this is an all-star assortment of figures in response to fan demand. Just state what this is. Hasbro negotiated with their retail partners to take some of the back stock, which again is commendable. But that back stock has an ounce or two of that same questionable case assortment issues. As Judge Constance Harm once said, don’t spit on my cupcake and call it frosting (okay that really is too harsh).
Anyway, for the official Hasbro communique, click on that “read more” link which will be coming up in three, two,....
Today I had the pleasure of attending the Boston Super MegaFest pop-culture convention with my friend and well known forumite, Sol. The highlight for both of us was getting to meet the man in the mask, David Prowse. This first picture after the jump is yours truly mugging with THE MAN. The pretty young lady in many of the pictures is Sol’s daughter, Jehla. In the last picture, you will see the crown jewel of my carded collection.
One of the most anticipated figures of the year, the Emperor’s Royal Guard lands in our photo archive. Click through to check it out.
Okay, I almost didn’t post this because haters gonna hate on this one. I know Russell Brand was largely cricketed on Saturday Night Live, but that’s because American audiences are terrible. I have no excuse for Arthur. But back in the nineties, no one thought funny man Michael Keaton could play Batman and that turned out pretty swell (for the time). So keep an open mind. Russel Brand tells Metro UK that he wants to play a Jedi in Episode VII.
Type in “star wars e” into a Google search, and you’ll be thrilled to see what the first suggestion is!

While you might not need the figures, the price is hard to beat. For Black Friday, Walmart will have Star Wars and Avengers 8-packs for the insanely low price of $25. Click here to cheek out your local Black Friday Walmart ad. Click the thumbnail below to check out this particular offer.
We’re leading off with Weequay from the final Vintage Colllection wave for selfish reasons (see the review). Click through to check out this LONG overdue update.
Wow. All the OT actors want a piece of Episode VII. The web site comicbook.com has quotes from Jeremy Bulloch stating he would like to see Boba Fett return for Episode VII. We’re with you on this, Jeremy!
Scoundrels rejoice. In the biggest news since the announcement of Episode VII, the web site Comic Book Movies reports that Harrison Ford is open to playing Captain Solo once more. All the pieces are coming together.
Update: Our friends from Jedi Temple Archives are linking to a story from Entertainment Weekly which mentions a potential contract proviso we all felt was coming.
I owe my friend Paul from Jedi Temple Archives a debt of gratitude. He reported that fiVe BELoW stores were resetting with a wheelbarrow display filled with wave 3 and 6 of the vintage collection. A slightly out of the way trek to my nearest fiVe BELoW store paid dividend. I did not find wave 3, so no cheap Gamorrean Guards, but I did find wave 6 and was able to fill in some gaps in my carded collection I never thought I’d fill.
One such hole in my cared collection is the 212th Battalion Clone. I never added that figure to my personal mix because of the disgustingly green discolored helmets. The one I found today was a pristine white. This other report from Jedi Temple Archives explains why the helmet was not defective. TRUST ME. You want to click through and read that. It’s borderline shocking in a good way.
Today, we’re not striking at Hasbro for a change. YOU may be in our cross-hairs. If all you see is doom and gloom in the Disney purchase of Lucasfilm, you might not want to
Just uploaded by the official site, George Lucas discusses the future Star Wars movies and the direction of LFL.
