So the staff here at Bantha Skull has been doing a little arm chair journalism (i.e. internet searches and rampant speculation). We don’t have any real connections despite the fact that one of us is actually listed on IMDB. But we present to you the case that some signs are pointing to the fact that we might not have to wait until 2015 to watch the next installment of Star Wars. If you want to indulge our conspiracy theory please
Okay, there’s a LOT to take in with this news article from USA Today. First, Hasbro has announced a new line of highly detailed 6 inch figures to be released with a $19.99 price point. There are 8 figured planned for 2013.
Somewhat more exciting, VINTAGE “STYLE” 3 3/4” FIGURES WILL CONTINUE UNDER THE BLACK SERIES BANNER. Uncertain if that means the actual Vintage Collection style cards or just Vintage Collection quality of figures.

Filmmakers often lift material from other sources. Lucas freely talks about his “inspirations” for Star Wars ranging from Kurosawa to 50’s serials. But author Virginia Postrel stumbled upon another source of potential Star Wars inspiration while doing some research in 70’s Vogue issues. Click through to check it out.
The whims of Lucasfilm with respect to theatrical releases has been mucking with our beloved toy line for over a year. Now comes news from the Official Site that the 3D releases of both Episodes II and III have been postponed.
While I could care less about the awful PT once again sullying movies screens, I do regret that this means the OT won’t be getting another shot at the big screen. And not that I care about the OT in 3D either, but I was looking forward to an OT focus in the toy line. Oh well.
Thank you to forum member Greg for bringing this to our attention.
According to the site The Warp, J.J. Abrams is set to direct Episode 7. This is welcome news indeed.
Big Bad Toy Store has the new 12 Inch figures available for pre-order. These particular figures have less articulation, but come at the bargain price of $13.99.
We’ve received word that a reset of the Boys Action aisles is coming to Target the week of February 10th. New items, presumable in the green slime packaging, should be available then. No new DPCI info to share at this time.
In the ever evolving saga of the canceled Droid Factory line, see the tease forum moderator Duke encountered as his local Meijer store (if there is such a thing). Click the thumbnail below for a peek at what might have been:
Truth be told, the first two waves of Droid Factory were more suck than win, so I for one am not totally lamenting it’s demise.
Due to some e-mail confusion, you’ve probably read this at several other sites by now, but if you’d like to read Hasbro’s official statement on the cancellation of Droid Factory (and maybe some snarky commentary on our part) just click the read more link in 3..2..
I should have posted this a few days ago, but I really enjoy not doing stuff (as do my collaborators here apparently). Anyway, Jedi Temple Archives posted their annual Vintage versus Modern report comparing vintage Kenner figures to their modern analogs (if they exist) and detailing which ones just aint good enough yet. It’s a great read, so click through to check it out if you haven’t already.
Some of their choices are (nerd) controversial, so you may have a bone or two to pick with them which makes it all the more fun.
Our friends at Jedi News UK did a little reconnaissance with some trusty DPCI numbers at Target. What they turned up with respect to the upcoming Droid Factory / Legacy Collection figures is unpleasant to say the least. This might only represent an internal measure at Target to deal with the delay of the Legacy Collection, so no need to get your pitch forks and torches ready for Pawtucket yet.
