As mentioned below in the post below, the Rebels TV series is heavily inspired by the art work of Ralph McQuarrie. In honor of that and in anticipation of the series premiere on October 13th, the next week of Throwback Reviews will focus on the 30th Anniversary R. McQuarrie Signature Series figures starting tomorrow.
It’s no secret that the visual style of Star Wars Rebels is directly inspired by the art of Ralph McQuarrie. While Zeb, the concept IG-88 and the concept Snowtrooper helmets in Spark of the Rebellionare fairly overt, did you catch the homage to the Han Solo concept art among the downtrodden in Tarkin Town? The Spark of the Rebellion Rebels movie premieres tonight on Disney XD. Despite the fact that the show hasn’t even aired a single episode, Disney XD has ordered a second season according to a press release on the official site.
An ancient fear has returned. Trooper31 from Germany was lucky enough to get his hands on a Rebels Stormtrooper, but a familiar problem with white armor figures appears to have resurfaced.
Even if you’re not excited about the Shadow Squad itself, one bit of related news could turn out to be exciting. It is expected for the week ending November 1 as part of a special end cap. Hopefully this means a feature end cap for Star Wars product.

We received this report of both the Jakks Pacific and 6” Black Series Stormtroopers hitting the same Walmart store en masse. Click through for the full sized image.
You’re probably expecting my Throwback Review of 2007’s Galactic Marine to focus on the fact that “marine” is completely out of context in the Star Wars universe and the usage of the term was too arbitrary, but you’re wrong. The review is mostly about the figure for a change and it’s one that impresses me to this day.
A trip to my local Walmart forces me to admire their dogged perseverance when it comes to their clearance policy.
I started to worry for our beloved super articulated action figure line the day I saw Mattel’s Green Lantern figures hanging in Target. I knew that Hasbro would look across the aisle and see that retailers were gobbling up lots of minimally articulated low quality figures and say “hey, why not us?”. I hope Hasbro doesn’t see what I saw today at Toys R Us from the Schleich company.
