Timothy Zahn says that he has pitched some ideas for at least two sequels to his recent novel Thrawn, which he says can be adapted easily depending on the character’s story arc in the animated show, Rebels.  He also feels that, despite the EU being relegated to “Legends” status, Mara Jade may find a way into canon.

A complete R2-D2 “assembled from original components from Episodes IV, V, VI, I, & II” is up for auction.  It includes what is purported to be the only “hero” dome (donned by the late Kenny Baker) from A New Hope in the public domain.  Check out the pics, including the inside of the dome with the articulated eye.  Starting bid is a cool $1M, and is expected to fetch as much as $2M.  It’s an incredible auction, so if your name is Dr. Evil and you’ve got the spare change, give it a whirl!

During all the hoopla of the 40th Anniversary yesterday, did you happen to catch the official YouTube channel’s Star Wars show, or did you miss it like me?  It contains some Last Jedi details as well as an interesting Timothy Zahn interview.  But what really caught my attention was a quick inter-segment tribute.  As we’ve discussed recently, the bar for justifying Star Wars crossovers is exceedingly low.  With that, I fully expect Star Wars Deadpool crossover product soon.  Hit the jump for the video.

The question is debated on and off over and over, but the spinoff movies definitely make things interesting.  Do you watch in episodic order, or by release date?  Where does Rogue One fit in, and what about the cartoons that are considered canon?

Machete order?  I lean mightily towards release date order, but the idea of treating the prequels like a flashback is interesting…

Timothy Zahn may deserve the credit for saving Star Wars.  It’s been over 25 years since “Heir to the Empire” was published, and the enthusiasm over his literary trilogy resurrected the flat-lining franchise.
