One astute reader got a preview of this gallery last night as I accidentally published it before it was finished.  For those of you who did not catch my gaff, here’s the Throwback Review of 2008’s 30th Anniversary Collection Kashyyk Trooper.  We’ve jumped over to 2008 because man cannot live on 2007 TAC figures alone especially when this man is out of 2007 figures (for the time being).

I sense this report is flying a bit under the radar and I have to admit I almost missed it (weekend days in the fall are super hectic in the northeast).  Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives have photographic proof of the first report of Rebels figures hitting the United States.  I didn’t think these figures would succumb to the same fate as the green slime Yoda packaged Clone Wars figures, but this firmly puts any unfounded fears to rest.

The breadth of the sources for the figures in the 30th Anniversary Collection was absolutely amazing.  The list is enormous with figures sourced from everything form the Holiday Special to video games.  While the figure isn’t the greatest, having the Battlefront anti-armor specialist in the figure lineup is certainly interesting.  Click through for today’s Throwback Review of 2007’s Rebel Vanguard Trooper.

Today’s Throwback Review of the Anakin Skywalker figure from the Battle of Nelvann is a mini-milestone.  With this review was have completed the entire legendary Expanded Universe wave from the 30th Anniversary Collection.  It is the first wave we have completed in our shotgun approach to covering the line.

Bantha Skull reader Lance M. alerted us that he found the Shadows of the Dark Side vehicle two packs at TJ Maxx in Las Vegas for $24.99.  This is great news for those of use who don’t have an Ollie’s or Impy’s or whatever the devil the name of the store that was previously getting these is.  Time to army build some Snow Speeders (even though this particular Snowspeeder is unique).  Click through for the full sized image.

The CZ series communication droid design is one of my favorites in the entire Saga, so I was quite excited when Hasbro released this CZ-4 figure in 2007’s 30th Anniversary Collection.  Unfortunately we look at why this figure falls a frustrating smidge short of perfection in today’s Throwback Review.

I guess there are worse things than your Walmart putting the incorrect product on the Rebels endcap.  Sometimes the correct product is worse.

Good day people of Bantha Skull.

I know it’s been a while, and for that I’m sorry.  You know how Dr. Malcom said ‘life uh…finds a way’?  Well, life finds a way of getting in the way of me writing a weekly article.  But right now, I am back.  I couldn’t have chosen a better time either.  This past Tuesday, Marvel Studio made an announcement.  It wasn’t much really.  Just their plans for the NEXT FIVE YEARS!

I’m not going to waste any time jumping in to this….so hold on to your butts. Yeah, that’s two Jurassic Park quotes in one article.

In 2007, it was probably “too soon” to revisit any of the the other Lando Calrissian costumes as they had all been updated withing the previous four years, so Hasbro went outside the box to deliver us a costume Lando briefly wore at the end of The Empire Strikes Back.  For today’s Throwback Review we look at Lando Calrissian in Smuggler Outfit.

The inaugural wave of the 30th Anniversary Collection finally delivered an acceptable version of the Super Battle Droid that we were all waiting for despite the fact that Super Battle Droids are stupid.  We look at the 2007 offering for today’s Throwback Review.

One of my favorite events of the year is fast approaching.  The New England Super Megafest Comic Con will be taking place November 22nd and 23rd at the Sheraton hotel in Framingham, MA.  Among the many notable celebrity guest are Jake Lloyd, Yavin Medal Bearer Nick Joseph, and Star Wars Galaxy artist Kevin Liell.  In addition Toys Hunters Jordan & Steve will be there whom I will be harassing for vintage Kenner goodness.  I can’t possibly list all the happenings here, so please click through to the Super Megafest web site.

The formula is simple.  You take some World War II style army fatigues, add a blast helmet and a staff, and the Rebel Honor Guard is born.  Despite this simplicity, Hasbro managed to punt away what could have been another cornerstone in the 30th Anniversary Collection greatness.  Click through for the Throwback Review of 2007’s Rebel Honor Guard.

I remember when I used to get excited this time of year when the toy section at Walmart would break out of its boundaries into overflow sections in the garden department and other areas of the store.  We received a report of the Hero Series Falcon hitting a central Massachusetts Walmart.  Sadly this overflow section has a lot of stuff, but nothing for me.  Click through for the full image.
