The announcement of VC270 - Admiral Piett was a watershed moment. We would finally get a new Imperial Officer sculpt. No longer would we have to put up either swivel elbows or arthritic knees on our Imperial dandies. The best part is that it offered the promise of, I dare say, dozens of additional figures that could be released with only minimal new tooling required. To that point, the soon to be released VC284 - Moff Jerjerrod was announrced shortly there after, but since then:
Update: As has been pointed out, the pipelined Thrawn and Krennic will be using this mold. I unintentionally omitted them because my brain is weird.
I'm not a patient man. I'm getting fidgety waiting for the next announcement. In the meantime, here are my top four choices.
Episode IV Grand Moff Tarkin
Why?: Because VC98 - Grand Moff Tarkin stinks on ice, has always stunk on ice, and will always stink on ice. We need this figure updated, and I don't want any cursed monkey paw deal with it. I don't wan an Episode III Tarkin. I don't want a Tarkin that attempts to mimic the CGI head from Rogue One. I wanted a bona fide Peter Cushing Episode IV Tarkin!
Any Imperial Security Bureau Officer
Why?: It's the best looking Imperial Officer uniform in Star Wars. The white tunic with black trousers looks especially sinister. Obviously Dedra Meero would be the most logical choice here, but we need a new female Imperial Officer buck first (an article for another day). Since that defeats the spirit of this article, I would suggest either Major Partagaz or Wullf Yularen.
Valin Hess
Why?: Because The Believer is one of the best episodes of The Mandalorian. More importantly, it would allow us to do something with VC251 - Din Djarin (Morak) and VC229 - Migs Mayfeld other than just stand there on a shelf looking stupid. Side note: I'm getting tired of the Black Series "contextless" approach to figure selection invading 3.75". TVC needs context for each release. Important note here is that Valin Hess would need a holster belt to be accurate (which we demand!).
Commander Praji
Why?: We need a black uniformed officer on the list, and the oft-requested Commander Praji makes the most sense. He's responsible for sending the villains on their part of the MacGuffin chase on Tatooine. Without him, we don't have proper motivation for the roadblock scene. Remember when plot points used to be earned in movies?
That's my list. What do you have? You know where to pipe in.
