We recently reviewed the Target exclusive VC229 Migs Mayfeld, which is the exact same figure as Din Djarin (Morak), with the exception of the headsculpt.  Actually, there is one other difference, in that Mayfeld should lack the red armband rank.  As you probably know, there was a factory error that resulted in the Mayfelds produced being split between the error (red arm band) and the correct (no armband) versions.  I don’t believe it is clear yet which is the more common, but if you’re into screen accuracy, you’ll want the no armband version.

Aside from that glitch (with Mayfeld, not Din), the headsculpt is the star here.  It’s great.  I think Hasbro has really been nailing the likenesses lately (ironically, I felt Mayfeld was a bit off from Bill Burr), and Din is one of the best yet.  The resemblance to Pedro Pascal is tremendous.  It’s a better headsculpt than VC177 (Din, not VC177 Incinerator Trooper, idiot!), but I do give that one a little bit of a pass because I believe it was trying to be more accurate to the disheveled look from the IG-11 scene.  Anyway, this one is tremendous.

The figure review was already covered when we did Mayfeld recently, but the quick recap is that the look is great and the versatility for future repaints/retools is excellent, but some of the parts used are already showing their age.  The shore trooper legs lack range of motion.  In particular, the knees barely bend to 45 degrees, which is terrible.  Of course, no rocker ankles, either.

So I’m happy to have this figure, and glad that it could mean a future Imperial Swamp Trooper.  But I would really hope that Hasbro can redo the knee and ankle articulation before going all in on this sculpt.  It’s great that we have Din and Migs, but the base figure leaves some room for improvement.  As such, like Migs, I’ll call this definitive for the minor “wardrobe” change for Din Djarin, but overall, it’s an 8/10.
