We’re done living in the past (temporarily anyway).  Today we’re back in black.  We review a rare “can’t miss” figure in The Black Series #26 Episode III based Darth Vader figure.

Yesterday we did a dud of a figure, but I want to get back to the older figures that make me happy.  Today we look at a dated sculpt, but one of my favorite figures.  Check out the POTF2 Flashback series Aunt Beru with Service Droid.

Hi everybody!  (pause for expected response)

Today’s collector spotlight is a little different (again).  While we once again highlight forum member Sithman, this time we’re on the far end of the spectrum from his fantastic autograph collection.  For about two years now, Sithman has been bringing us the quirky, sometimes corny, but always entertaining Karaoke in the Cantina.  Stop in and check it out.

So far the Throwback Reviews have focused on figure that give me collector glad.  To keep this feature honest, we need to talk about times when things weren’t all sunshine and roses.  Enter 2002’s “Saga” Boba Fett (Kamino Escape).

Our own studly SithMan shared this with us and we had to pass it along.  Check out this custom Sail Barge that is up for auction.

The shield will be down in moments. You may start your landing.

I love the character of General Veers and despite some limitation in articulation, I also love the figure from 2006.  The Saga Collection General Veers is the spotlight of today’s throwback review.

In 2010 my Target stores were getting more than six cases at a time.  Now we have photographic proof that some stores are only receiving 1/4 of a case.  What wonderful times.  Click through for the full sized image.

Good Monday morning to all you working stiff.  I’m currently on vacation, so if you are reading this, it means I successfully configured the twenty seven elements to get this to post automatically.  We end our string of Throwback Reviews (temporarily), to review a contemporary item.  Please check out the SDCC ‘14 exclusive Jabba the Hutt’s Throne.

And the post above gives us a two-fer.  The only difference with this gallery is the packaging.

For today’s Throwback Review, we consider 2006’s The Saga Collection Death Star Gunner.  There have been persistent rumors that Hasbro intends to update this figure, so we need to determine if an update is in fact needed.

I think we all assumed this would be one of the fastest ways Disney would start recouping some of their four billion dollar investment in LucasFilm, but ComicBook.com has now confirmed that the original, unaltered cuts of Episodes IV through VI will be released on Blur-ray.  Han will be shooting first and the horrible CG Jabba will be gone.

I’m not sure how I feel about this.  The Special Editions did improve upon some things.  I think we can all get behind cleaning up the special effects like removing the obvious matte lines, but want the plot changes and new character dropped (especially the sock puppet in Jabba’s palace).  I hope that’s the version we’re getting.

The Throwback Reviews were intended to be an occasional feature, but they’ve been getting a warm reception, so we’ll keep the line moving.  If you’re gonna read ‘em, we’ll keep publishin’ ‘em.  This is our furthest look back so far as we examine 1998’s Imperial Sentinel figure.  This is touches on one of my favorite stories in Star Wars toy history.  You need to check it out.
