1999 was a fun time to be a Star Wars fan. While The Phantom Menace may have ended up being disappointing in many ways, the months leading up to it were all about excitement, sharing knowledge and theories, and buying toys (naturally). The anticipation was better than the payoff. As we approach the 20th anniversary of the release of Episode I, here are my recollections of that time.
