“Palpatine” - From a Certain Point of View

"Palpatine", by Ian Doescher, comes from the perspective of Emperor Palpatine. This story follows "There is Another."

WARNING: This is a plot summary of the short story, spoilers ahead:

Author Ian Doescher is known for having re-written the Star Wars movies into Shakespearean plays. For example, Star Wars: Verily, a New Hope and The Empire Striketh Back. This story is fairly short, and is written in the same iambic pentameter style of Shakespeare himself, as well as Doescher's own parody plays.

Palpating has just learned of Obi-Wan's death. At first, he is thrilled at the unexpected news, but soon worries about three things: What mysterious purpose did Kenobi serve on Tatooine; what did it mean when Vader said Kenobi wasn't slain, but simply vanished; and if Kenobi had survived this long, did his own nemesis Yoda live as well? But Palpatine moved on from these concerns quickly, and he celebrated the victory that was moments away. With Kenobi dead, his Death Star was about to end the Rebellion. His Empire would last for ages, and Palpatine relished the thought.
