WARNING: This is a plot summary of the short story, spoilers ahead:

The seasons are changing on Dagobah, and Yoda must move from his highland wet season home because it's going to be too hot and dry. The swamps will be draining quickly, so he packs his belongings - his cane, his little bag of seeds so he can plant his food for the season, a pot that Obi-Wan had made long ago, and his blanket that was once Qui-Gon's robe. He misses the experience of teaching a padawan, and laments missed opportunities to train young Skywalker. She would make an excellent Jedi.

Yoda checks instinctively for Probe Droids, although it's been a long time. He thinks the Empire must not feel he has any significance any more. Yoda begins his trek to his other home, wen he senses something in The Force. Hr realizes Obi-Wan has died. Suddenly, Yoda is lonelier than ever, but in his loneliness, he senses the same from another. He can sense Anakin's loneliness, Yoda doesn't know what is left of the man, but in that moment, he almost felt bad for Anakin's.

Yoda was so distracted by these events that he didn't see the Probe Droid nearby. Acting fast, he used The Force to summon a small whirlwind around the droid, and as it was turning in his direction, he threw Obi-Wan's pot, smashing the eye, and triggering the self-destruct. Yoda was then approached by two more droids, attracted by the destruction of the first, a laser bolt passing just over his shoulder and hitting his bag of belongings. He instinctively reached for his lightsaber hilt, but then used The Force to pull the droids towards each other, smashing and destroying them. His bag was hit, and Qui-Gon's robe was singed, but was okay. He buried the pieces just to be safe.

Yoda reached his hut, and began the process of drying it out and getting comfortable. He tried to reach out for Qui-Gon, but instead found a shimmering image of Obi-Wan sitting before him. Yoda was happy to see his old friend, and was impressed with how successful his transition into The Force had been. Yoda was bemused that Obi-Wan was taking on the role of someone senior, as he tells Yoda he must train the boy. Yoda is reluctant. The girl has all the right qualities. She is strong, disciplined, and noble. The boy is reckless and not ready. But Obi-Wan insists, and Yoda agrees.
