Bantha Skull is working hard to do our part in helping make the HasLab Sail Barge campaign a success. While we may sound like a broken record, it's just because my Supertramp CD keeps skipping in the background. We know that just about all of you that are reading this are well aware of the Sail Barge offering. We're hoping for two things:
1. We help sway anyone on the fence to land on the side of backing the barge.
2. Anyone reading these Sail Barge articles SHARES them across all their social media. Not just to boost our own profile (which is nice) but to boost the profile of this campaign so that as many people as possible hear about it, even those that might be interested but aren't necessarily part of the regular collecting website community.
This past week, we took a close look at how you might display your Sail Barge and which currently existing figures would go in, on, or near that display.
Monday: Toys of the Battle of the Pit of Carkoon
Screw your Khetanna. I got boxes!
We launched our deep dive with an overview of a display that might one day grace your collection. It included a wondrous cardboard mockup that took on a life of it's own. For a while, we feared that the cardboard box idea might catch such fire as to undermine Hasbro's Khetanna. We were even contacted by Hasbro's lawyers that we should cease and desist as we were infringing upon their licensing agreement with Disney. After some aggressive negotiations, Hasbro realized that we were only acting in their best interest. If you are interested in Jabba's Cardboard Barge, send money to my PayPal account. (Disclaimer: You will get nothing in return.).
Tuesday: Figures of the Barge (Part I)
This Bib Forutna figure sucks.
We then began a 3 part look at the figures that would populate the Barge. Part I focused on 9 figures that would be found inside the barge, having a grand time as they set off to watch a lovely group execution. Featured here, is perhaps the one figure inside the Barge that is most in need of a new sculpt - Bib Fortuna.
Wednesday: Figures of the Barge (Part II)
Jabba's bartender droid is Exhibit A of why the 6" line can't hold 3.75's jockstrap.
There were so many figures that belong inside the Barge, we extended that look to a second day. Part II revealed the 8 additional figures that hung out below deck. We featured the newest member of the team, Jabba's Astromech bartender (unnamed), from the Entertainment Earth exclusive astromech set.
Thursday: Figures of the Barge (Part III)
Little Annie himself vacationed in the luxurious digs of the Khetanna.
We then moved to the deck of the sail barge, for a look at the figures that Luke would murder one by one. Part III looked at 4 more figures that were seen on deck during the battle. As a bonus we showed you two other figures that we ourselves just learned about (thanks to James) who spent time on board the Khetanna, albeit at a different time than the ROTJ battle. None other than Darth Vader and a contingent of Stormtroopers tasted the good life as Jabba's guests. Yep!
Friday: Figures of the Barge - The Skiffs
So close, Hasbro. Just a few more figures...
We finished the week (but not our series) with a look at the figures nearby, which populate the two skiffs. Here we were able to cram as many as 7 figures onto the prisoner skiff, with room for 2 more (hint hint). The other skiff has 4 existing figures, with barely enough room for the oversized Pote Snitkin to drive.
Next week: ???
We will continue to take a look at how to accessorize your Khetanna display, and how Hasbro should help complete the scene. Here is a weird sneak peak of what's to come:
What manner of sorcery is this???
So as we mentioned, be sure to spread the word. We have a long road ahead for the second half of the campaign. Without some support from outside the group of collectors and fans that visit our community, we're going to really struggle to make the goal. Share this post across your social media. Do it!
