We all know that TVC 1.0 has been white hot for some time now. So when the "rarities" like VC102 - Ahsoka fetch $700, it's hardly newsworthy. Ditto for other things like the Sail Barge Yak Face, Jar Jar in Carbonite and the mini-figures. We expect those figures to fetch big bucks. Once again, it's the also-rans that are getting eye-popping sums that are worth noting.
Do I owe Paisley Prince Anakin an apology? I've been routinely mocking Hasbro's decision to include this particular version of Anakin in a recent Specialty Wave. Despite the fact this figure only shipped in one assortment and was never carried forward during TVC 1.0, it never really generated serious collector interest. Apparently the market has caught up to the fact that it was a one and done figure. Color me surprised.
I'm being punked, right? After being initially delayed, this figure shipped and shipped and shipped. It was initially released in 2011, and was still being carried forward into 2012 cases for some God unknown reason. For a good long time this Wedge was selling for less then MSRP on the secondary market. Now it fetches one fifty? Incredible.
Okay, this one is pushing the theme a little bit as it's Boba Fett. There's always a draw to Boba Fett. Plus what pushed the price here is the state of the card. It's both unpunched and offerless, but the premium is INSANE! As with Wedge, the VC09 - Boba Fett figure shipped a lot, so it's not particularly rare. In fact, punched versions with the rocket firing Fett offer sell in the $50 range. That 10x premium is shocking.
