Today, I'm going to share images of some doohickies for you to peruse...

Previous parts can be found here if you missed them or are interested in looking again:
PART I: CIS Droids
PART II: CIS Factions and Leadership
PART III: Naboo
PART IV: Coruscant
PART V: Clone Troopers (Phase I)
PART VI: Jedi

Clones again! This time, the Phase II kind. If you thought there were a lot of Phase I varieties, get ready for a comeuppance of biblical proportions! Or maybe just prepare to feel like a boob for spending much money on trivial nonsense.

I was thinking of breaking up this group into multiple parts, but decided to just squeeze all the Phase II clones together at once. The notable exception is the 501st, which was too busy to participate in this photo shoot due to prior commitments. Also, a bunch of specials are hiding in the shadows and may emerge for an appearance at a future date. So let's dive in...

Hasbro followed up its huge assortment of Phase I clones with a "hold my beer" follow up. For Phase I, we mostly got a bunch of basic white troopers, along with some ranked leaders. We also got few ARC troopers in various load outs and colors, and we got a couple of units - both of which originated in the Genndy Microseries - The Hawkbat Battalion and "The Muunilinst 10."

But then Lucas switched things up for Revenge of the Sith. We see that the clone units evolved to develop their own distinctive color markings. A few of these were featured in ROTS, but many others were either from The Clone Wars animated show or just based on some concept artwork. After introducing clone figures painted in these unit markings, Hasbro then made sure to offer specialized clones to supplement the basic soldiers, such as airborne troopers, marines, pilots, engineers, drivers, and unique commanders.

Forming the core of the Phase II clone troopers, we have the all white troopers. These were very briefly seen in the background inside the Republic Gunships that transported Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Mace Windu to the spaceport where the 41st Elite Corps was preparing to deploy to Kashyyyk. The port is filled with clones wearing white armor with grey markings. It has been noted that the white clones on board the gunships are CGI errors in ROTS, and should have had the grey markings like the rest of the 41st Elite Corps. Once they arrived at Kashyyyk, the 41st switched to camouflage-marked armor, and can be seen battling on the beaches alongside Wookiees. This unit is led by Luminara Unduli and Commander Gree. Quinlan Vos was also on Kashyyyk with the 41st at the end of the Clone Wars, while Yoda The Micromanaging Jedi Master briefly took command of the unit.

Nevertheless, the all-white clones persisted in Hasbro's arsenal. Much later, in the premiere episode of The Bad Batch, Depa Billaba and young Caleb Dume are fighting on the Planet Kaller with a unit of troops from the 41st, led by Clone Captain Grey. The other clones in the unit are all white, and can be seen as they killed Billaba during the issuing of Order 66. I haven't found anything online that validates this theory, but I have wondered if Filoni was just offering a nod to the CGI error in ROTS by making these 41st clones wear all white armor. Then most recently, in Season 1 of Andor, we saw a regiment of white-clad clones in a flashback on the planet Ferrix. Hasbro just released a newly sculpted clone based on this appearance.

The unit that is most prominently featured in ROTS is the 212th Attack Battalion, which is a part of the 7th Sky Corps. This unit is led by Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Clone Marshal Commander Cody. There were several sculpts of the basic clone trooper with orange markings released by Hasbro, as well as a few comic pack variants, some airborne troopers, and an AT-RT Driver. Very recently, Hasbro offered a 4-pack of 212th clones based on the just-released VC269 mentioned above. In that pack, there were 3 basic troopers along with Clone Trooper Waxer, with a distinctive emblem on his helmet.

Other notable units shown on screen in ROTS are the Galactic Marines of the 21st Nova Corps, led by Ki-Adi Mundi and Commander; the 327th Star Corps led by Aayla Secura and Commander Bly; and the 91st Mobile Reconnaissance Corps led by Stass Allie and Commander Neyo. Along with a bunch of troops wearing a kit similar to Bly, Hasbro offered up the Gelagrub, a Felucian beast of burden. We also have the Shock Troopers of the Coruscant Guard, led by Commander Thire. I amassed a bunch of these from 2005, because I army built the pods from the Senate Battle Pack. I also have a whole bin of throw away Palpatines and Yodas from these sets.

Some off screen units are represented, most of them featured in either TCW, comics, or video games. There's the 5th Fleet Security with the odd blue slashes (possibly having made a blink-and-you'll-miss-them cameo in ROTS), the 7th Legion led by Commander Faie, the 442nd Siege Battalion led by Plo Koon, the 187th Legion led by Mace Windu, and the weird 38th Armored Division (supplemented by the similar looking "Episode III Commemorative DVD" troopers).

Also represented in the photos, a few clones from units in varying degrees of canonicity, including the yellow BARC troopers led by Tsui Choi, a few galactic marines led by Commander Keller, a couple of troopers from the "ARC-170 Elite Squad", and a handful of Clone Engineers. Also in the photos are various troopers and pilots, including the a few commanders with names, including Captain Howzer, Commander Wolff (2 versions), and Commander Doom. The assortment is rounded out by 6 ARC Commanders from TCW and video games.

It's quite a varied and colorful bunch. It's a pretty neat display if you have a large enough contingent from a particular unit set up to fight against some CIS forces, with the Jedi slashing their lightsaber through droid fodder.

So go ahead and share you collections of phase II clone troopers!
