I May Never Financially Recover From The Pipelined A New Hope Wave

This has been a September to remember to say the least. Like many of you, I've had the charges for the Ghost, Boba Fett's Throne Room, Mando's N1, the Speeder Bike & Grogu, and the Cad Bane wave (from Pulse) all hit in the same month. To say it put a strain on my monthly budget would be an understatement. It's been fun on one hand, and stressful on the other. Oh, and I got an email that the Jabba's Court Denizens 4-pack is prepping to ship. Serenity now. I wouldn't want for any of this product to be further delayed. That would be terrible (and just kick the can down the road). I just wish we didn't go from January through August with only two waves, and the Target Boba Fetts, but I digress. That's not why I asked you all here today.

If that pipelined R2-D2 in this A New Hope wave is all new tooling, I'm going to be painted into the same financial corner, only this time it will be completely my own doing instead of being an unforeseen dam burst in the global logistics log jam. I will order the case assortment for sure. That's a given, but let's look at the figures in this wave for individual orders:

Darth Vader
This will assuredly be a minor retool of the outstanding VC241 - Darth Vader (Dark Times) figure. The last Episode IV based Darth Vader was TVC 1.0's VC93 - Darth Vader. That was one of my favorite TVC 1.0 figures, but it hasn't aged well. I'm thrilled to be getting an update. Even though I only need a couple for my displays, I'll get a case of this figure.

Stormtrooper
This will be a packaging refresh of the VC231 - Stormtrooper figure (i.e. the definitive Stormtrooper). It's a stormtrooper:


That's a case.

Luke Skywalker (Pilot)
Who couldn't use a few more Luke Skywalker Piolet figures? This will be a packaging refresh of VC158 - Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot). I snapped the flight strap on my existing figure, so I need a replacement. I won't be going crazy on this figure though. Depending on the case assortment, I may order one or two extras off Pulse.

R2-D2
Here's where things get sporty. If this figure is all new, I'm in serious trouble. I'll probably get two cases. My displays are filthy with R2-D2 figures, and I'll want to upgrade them all. If this is a clean version of the BAD sculpt used for VC149 - Artoo-Detoo (R2-D2) (i.e. the TLJ R2 minus the rockets), I will probably get a case. If it's just another repack of VC25 - R2-D2 (i.e. the "Bar-2" sculpt), I'll throw it in the trash out of frustration.

Princess Leia
This is confirmed to be a 100% newly tooled figure. This is so long overdue. The demand is beyond pent up. I'm getting two cases the second this goes up for preorder. If Ms. Emily figures out how to give us a figure that aesthetically works for both "hood up" and "hood down" Leia, I might order a third. I don't know. I'M INSANE!

This marks the first time in my collecting history that I'm going to have to specifically budget for a wave of basic figures. Perhaps I'll sell my liver. I'm pretty sure it's mostly used up anyway. All I know is that I'm going to feel like a kid again seeing all these double racetrack cards at once. I just hope the rest of the community shares my enthusiasm, and the sales data makes the case for the other three ANH mains absolutely undeniable.
