Hasbro Star Wars 1/22 Fan Stream Later This Morning At 11 AM ET

I wasn't expecting a livestream this soon into the new year, but yesterday's announcement was a nice surprise. We already have preorders out until May of this year, so I didn't think we'd get any announcements until "classic Toy Fair" time (i.e. mid-February) at best. I'm wondering if the timing of this stream might tip Hasbro's hand a bit. Have they finally learned to strike while the iron is hot (or just barely cooled)? That isn't based on any info on my part. Just wild speculation with no intent to foreshadow. If I was dropping a hint, it would be something impossibly difficult to decrypt.

Moving from the realm of wild speculation to informed speculation, we can plumb the heretofore un-revealed pipelined figures:

• Chewbacca
• Han Solo
• Momaw Nadon
• Baylan Skoll
• Shin Hati
• Mandalorian Maul Loyalist

My gut tells me that it's a little too soon for the "Return to Tatooine" figures. So, if we get anything from the pipeline backlog, I suspect it will be from the last three, and my cynical side says that a random Wednesday in January is the perfect time to get the stale Maul Loyalist out of the way. I still don't know what separates that figure from the previously released Mandalorian Super Commando Captain.

I know I'm a broken record with this, but if I'm going to have my socks knocked off, it would have to be a surprise from the vehicle front. But I feel like anything significant would be saved for a bigger event, like May the 4th. Still, it's like those guys who predict that the stock market is going to crash every Monday. Sooner or later they're going to be right (and everyone will forget the 104 consecutive weeks they were wrong). Overall, I'm keeping my expectations low for today, though. This just doesn't feel like a "big one" stream. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised. You?
