Here's another Choose Your Own Adventure day at Banthaskull!
As we head into the weekend, there are a few things of note in our corner of the universe.
But before I get into that, I must share that my wife got us tickets to the Knicks game tonight. They're in town playing the Suns. It will be the first time I've been to a Knicks game since I was a kid. LET'S GO!
1. There are reports that Dave Filoni will (at least in part) be replacing Kathleen Kennedy at LFL. Rumors of Kennedy's departure/retirement have been circulation forever, but the Filoni stuff is new.
2. Hasbro will host a Livestream on Monday. No idea what will be presented, but we'll talk more about it Monday morning as we get closer to the launch. I'm looking forward to hearing about "new" things that I already have, with the exception of what had better be Arleil Schous in that teased Cantina Pack. If revealed, Arleil won't be nearly as exciting as it should be. If not, it will be way more disappointing than if we never even knew he was a thing. If there are any other NEW characters in that set, I'll probably die of shock.
3. The SWTVC March Madness thing is back. If I can remember to make my submission, it will be a list of 25 figures that I don't already have, which significantly reduces the chances of any of my choices being recognized and made by Hasbro.
4. There was a feedback request from Steve Evans on IG (average user age 14) that I missed until it was too late. The final tally included this gem: "Avoid leaning too heavily into the Original Trilogy". Interesting hot take. Thoughts, Peter?
Well said, Peter. I think we all assume 2026 is going to have a bunch of non-OT stuff, and that's fine. We'll see delivery of the HasLab Republic Gunship and the associated Battle of Geonosis theme. I'm all about more love being given to the PT, despite the fact that if you look at the staggering volume of PT stuff that came out from 1999-2010, there is frankly very little to do that hasn't been done before. But even I agree that some PT stuff needs an update. There will also be a bunch of Mando/Grogu stuff. Again, that's fine for movie support. But for the love of all that is good and holy, we'd better be DROWNING in OT product (emphasis on ANH) for the biggest pop culture anniversary of all time in 2027. Other media need not apply.
On another note, I picked up this guy from the shelter on Christmas Eve. He's a chihuahua / dachshund mix, he's 8, and he's ridiculous. This is Barry!
