In yesterday's article, I made a huge ma-ma-ma...I made a huge ma-ma. I can do this. I made a huge mistake, or more accurately, a terrible error in judgement. Out of the five potential releases that could be made from a hypothetical new Episode IV Luke Skywalker sculpt, I suggested releasing the basic figure on the alternate Kenner card:
Several people correctly called me out for the fact that the basic figure does not match the version of Luke on that Kenner "Alt" card. The Luke that is depicted on the card is wearing a headset and, more importantly, a stormtrooper belt as this depicts him in the Millennium Falcon's gunner seat shortly after escaping the Death Star:

The basic "farmboy" Tatooine Luke would not match the film out. We here at Bantha Skull have often rallied against Hasbro replicating Kenner's mistakes. For example, we would have preferred that Hasbro corrected the Paploo card for the Vintage Collection release instead of repeating Kenner's mistake of using an image of Romba:
Now calling the fact that Kenner slapped a Tatooine Luke on a card depicting Millennium Falcon Gunner Luke isn't really a "mistake". It's more a classic case of Kenner's lack of attention to detail, but Hasbro shouldn't replicate that either in the modern Vintage Collection. Those sort of things need to be correct. Accuracy is critical. If we are to get the Kenner "Alt" card, it should include an accurate Luke Skywalker (Millennium Falcon Gunner) figure:
Furthermore, we should get it on the episode-correct, double racetrack Star Wars card:
The best part of this is that it would eliminate the need for an update to VC39 - Luke Skywalker (Death Star Escape). In this hypothetical, we would just need to remove the headset.
