Bantha Skull, along with other fan outlets, has been invited to participate in a round table interview with Hasbro where we'll have the chance to ask all about the latest Hasbro Star Wars Fall reveals from Hasbro Pulse Con, 1027 Pulse Event, London MCM, and Gift the Galaxy. There is a twist however, I'm not able to attend the recording. I have to drive my mother to the chiropodist (that's actually pretty close to the truth). I asked Mr. Nomadscout to fill in, but he said he couldn't. He didn't give a reason, so I'm going so assume he has an appointment to get frosted tips. It's going to look mint. But fear not! We've been bailed out by the Middle Aged Kiwi Man Collecting Star Wars Figures. He will be conducting the interview a lille later today (which is 4:50 AM Wednesday morning in Middle Earth). Thank you Mr. MAKMCSWF!
Below are the questions he has been tasked with efforting to get answered. Please note that these questions were submitted before Victoria's landmark interview with Emily Cantelupe for the Vintage Collection Podcast, so there is some overlap, but we view the repetition as a good thing as it reenforces these important issues with Hasbro:
1. The Vintage Collection Count Dooku revealed at London MCM appears to have very short discs in the elbows. This is a concerning trend in TVC. Most figure released in 2023 have had short elbow discs which reduces the range of motion of the elbows to less than a 90 degree bend. It’s safe to say objectively that the newly tooled figures in 2022 were better than what we are getting now. Rising prices and lowering quality is the same vice that squeezed the super articulated 3.75” line out of existence in 2014. Can this reduced range of motion in the elbows be looked into, and hopefully reversed going forward?
2. The Phase I Clone Trooper revealed at London MCM has an oversized helmet. The helmets on the just revealed Phase II Clone Trooper 4-pack appear to be scaled better. Is there time to fix the helmets on the Phase I clone before the release?
3. Fans are feeling let down by the mix of characters in the Pulse exclusive 4-packs lately. As an example, the Phase II 4-packs contains 2 all white clones, which most fans don’t have great need for, one 332nd Clone Trooper, which fans would like a decent squad of, and one 501st, which fans would like to truly army build. Can we get an all 501st 4-pack at some point?
4. HK-47 represents the first Legacy Collection figure that was not previously re-released in TVC 1.0, to be re-released in TVC 2.0. Can you look into re-releasing other such Legacy Collection figures such as Giran, Nysad, Malakili, Hrchek Kal Fas, and Leesub Sirln.
5. In 2001, Hasbro was able to release an FX-7 figure with 18 very thin arms, each of which had a simple elbow hinge, which is often all that is needed for droids. Now in 2023, we can’t even get two similar elbow hinges for the Chopper figure. Technology usually gets better with time. Is there a reason for this counterintuitive trend, such as cost, factory demands, or regulatory concerns?
