For those of you reading this around the time of publishing, you’ll note we skipped past sets 4 and 5 to get to this “6 of 6” duo of Yoda and Droideka.  That’s because it wasn’t too long ago that we updated our galleries with new photography and reviews for Joclad Danva/Battle Droid and Roth-Del Masona not too long ago, for purposes of the Geonosis Survivors Circle Scene It feature.  For those of you reading this at some random point in the future, please let us know the new name of the Washington NFL team.

This is arguably the weakest of the six set run.  It includes a Yoda and a Super Battle Droid Droideka.  Ha!  See what I did there?  I was going to make fun of Hasbro’s love affair with pairing Yoda with the Super Battle Droid for some reason.  This may be because there was allegedly a scene cut from Attack of the Clones where Yoda fought an SBD (or several) on his way to Dooku.  But I fooled you.  It’s not a Super Battle Droid.  It’s a Droideka.  Idiots.

Yoda is a repaint of the TAC 30-32 Yoda & Kybuck, but with different accessories.  He’s got ball joints at the neck, shoulders, and ankles, with swivels at the wrists ad hips.  It wasn’t a bad Yoda at the time, but we know that a perfect Yoda from any era in the saga still eludes us in the 3.75” scale.  I also question the inclusion of this “action-y” Yoda in these sets, as Yoda does nothing in the Arena except give commands while standing with his cane in the side door of a gunship.  It’s a terrible thing to admit, but it may be that the best figure for this purpose is the “5POA” TLJ line version of Yoda .  That’s a veritable nightmare.  This figure is in an aggressive pose, and comes with a lightsaber, but no cane.  Clearly it’s meant to represent the scene where Yoda fights Dooku, but Dooku is nowhere to be found in this 2009 run of sets.  And, in direct opposition to the title of these 2-packs, Yoda’s duel did not take place during the “Geonosis Arena Showdown.”

instead, we get a Droideka.  To me, the most fascinating thing about this figure is the fact that Hasbro called it a “Droideka.”  I may be wrong about this, but it’s possible this is the only time in the history of the line that Hasbro did this, choosing to go with the less interesting moniker of “Destroyer Droid.”  Anyway, nothing much new here.  It’s just a repaint of previous kitbashes, with the corresponding parts being as much as a decade old.  As good as the figure is, I’ve stated numerous times that I will not be happy until Hasbro gives us a Droideka that can properly fold up into a rolling version.

The set gets a 6.  You get a “meh” Yoda, who is technically out of place, and an old Destroyer Droid.  It’s good to complete the run of sets, but is otherwise pretty lackluster.
