Ralph McQuarrie perhaps had no bigger impact on the Star Wars saga than he did with Darth Vader. George Lucas did not plan for Vader to wear a helmet and it was though McQuarrie’s urging that one of the most iconic images and dehumanizing elements of the character was born. You’re probably expecting my Throwback Review of 2007’s Galactic Marine to focus on the fact that “marine” is completely out of context in the Star Wars universe and the usage of the term was too arbitrary, but you’re wrong. The review is mostly about the figure for a change and it’s one that impresses me to this day.
