This isn’t fresh news. but Thea and Liana Shengelaya, better known as the Healer Twins, were on set for four days of filming in Abu Dhabi. Abu Dhabi = Tatooine. Tatooine = Cantina. Mysterious sisters in the cantina. Are we sure Episode VII isn’t the best possible cover title for an Episode IV remake?
Thanks to Darth Mire for this alert. This video was posted to the official YouTube channel detailing how you can win a role in Episode VII.
According to Yahoo UK there is a legal battle brewing over the contract to provide the hundreds of extras for Episode VII which may delay shooting. The article even indicates for what those extras would be needed. I think one we probably assumed, but the other is for a popular non-human species, so don’t click through if you consider that spoiler information. Using extras for these roles instead of using CGI models with jarringly unnatural locomotion is a huge positive. Hopefully this legal battle doesn’t tempt JJ do the darkside of CGI.
We’ve linked to several articles recently that indicated that second unit photograph has already started and that principal photography would begin around today’s date (I checked those reports and they were pretty close give or take a few days). Anyway, the Bad Robot Twitter account made it official by tweeting out the below image under the hashtag #dayone
The English language Adu Dhabi news site The National has reported some high level details about the set construction for Episode VII as well as some of the goings on around the desert shoot location. There may be some very minor spoiler information contained, but nothing more than would probably be revealed in the first full trailer. Things are starting to sound Star Warsy.
Our own Darth Dre alerted us that Aint It Cool News had confirmed the working title of Episode VII, but the AICN story contained a profanity, so I wasn’t comfortable linking to it from our family friendly front page.
Now the Huffington Post has picked up the story, so you can read about the title that plays on “A New Hope” without being subjected to TV-14 talk.
As everyone but a few angry internet reactionaries knew, the casting for Episode VII is not complete. The Examiner reports that Lupita Nyong’o is still up for a role. But it wouldn’t be the internet if we didn’t overreact to a tiny bit of information that we incorrectly extrapolate into a larger message.
We have an exclusive report about the use of MoCap (motion capture suits) in Episode VII courtesy of our forum moderator, Mazlow. Hit the jump for the full story.
This news is so big that it’s actually crashing the official site (I’m not joking), Many of the recent rumors have turned out to be true.
The site Deadline is reporting that Inside Llewyn Davis star Oscar Isaac is in line for a major role in Episode VII. Star Wars fans probably know him best as Blue Jones from Sucker Punch. Deadline also reveals a somewhat surprising degree of involvement from one of the Original Trilogy stars, someone we all thought would be seeking a minimal role in the next chapter.
Disney chair Alan Horn sat down with Bloomberg television to drop some high level details about the production and indicated that Episodes VIII and IX could revert to May release dates.
