It’s that time of year again! Hasbro’s SDCC Star Wars presentation is scheduled for 12 noon Pacific time (3 PM Eastern (10 PM Estonian)). What can we expect this year?

In a bit of a left turn, we suspect that Hasbro has picked up the licensing for the 1959 United Artists classic Some Like it Hot which features Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon disguising themselves as women to avoid the mob. The first figure in the line looks to be Jack Lemmon’s character, but the hair color appears off (typical Hasbro). Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives have the details.
There have been rumors floating around our forums lately that our front page is broken. This post serves as proof of the opposite. It’s just a little rusty.
Well, it seems the day we’ve all been patiently (or impatiently) awaiting is almost upon us. As the hours tick by approaching the release of The Force Awakens, let us know how you feel. Are you excited, nervous, scared, worried….a combination of all four? What are your plans for the big day? Sound off, we want to hear from you!
Our own Darth Mire shared this video in our forums. The commercial is fairly awesome so you should enjoy it for face value. However, I can’t help but think that the commercial also includes a powerful unintentional commentary on the state of Hasbro’s 3.75 offerings. Click through to watch the commercial and read my explanation.
The Toys R Us “Great Big Book of Awesome” (formerly known as the “Big Toy Book”) has leaked online and includes some Star Wars deals that might appeal to some of us.
Star Wars gets it’s own 4-page spread mostly devoted to Hot Wheels, Role Play toys, and Air Hogs- whatever those are, but tucked in there is a nice “20% off All 3.75” Figures and Vehicles” deal.
This deal goes into effect on November 1st, so don’t be that jerk who goes into Toys R Us and expects a sale price 6 days early.
Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives has been mentioning whisper of numerous “Force Fridays” leading up to the release of the The Force Awakens. In the case of my local Target, they seemed to have gotten the memo today. They were several new figures on the pegs including the Guavian Enforcer and General Hux. As the figures are nine points of articulation too light the remained in the store. Click through for the full sized image.
Our own Dustin (CJ to most of you) has done some URL manipulation and uncovered that the URL’s for most if not all the Walmart exclusive Black Series figures for wave 2 and beyond (including the possibility of a certain shiny caped Stormtrooper commander). Hit the read more link to see what he uncovered.
To many discerning fans, The Empire Strikes Back is best film of the saga. The sequences on Cloud City are the heart of that film, as each character comes away from Bespin changed, both physically and emotionally. Despite its significance, Bespin has suffered a little in terms of action figures. Perhaps this is because most of the ancillary characters are a bit boring compared to the xenopolitan Tatooine locations. Still, our Bespin displays end up looking a bit scarce with just Lando and a couple of guards. While I can’t say that Cloud City is filled with critical need action figures, it should certainly be revisited, assuming that the collector line isn’t already dead.
The ratings for each character here are based on a few factors including on-screen prominence, aesthetic, and significance to key sequences. I don’t expect everyone to agree with our rankings, so feel free to call us stupid jerks in the comments, and while you’re here check out the other lists that have been put together.

Not surprising.
I found this little gem while scouring the internets this morning. Location unknown, but if you’re interested, it wouldn’t hurt to swing by your nearest ‘big blue’ retailer and see if they screwed up as well.
Happy hunting!
Well, interesting development brought to us by our, ahem, Bothan Spy.
Apparently, some (not all) Target stores may or may not be having their own Midnight Madness sales on September 4th. We don’t really know for sure, because some idiot deleted the message before it was completed. Anyway, if this were going to happen, there could be some kind of announcement by Target around the 15th of this month.
Stay tuned…
Yakface has posted the unfortunate news that Mark Grimshaw, friend to Bantha Skull and almost every other fan site, has passed away. Mark was known as “SithMan” here, but went by several other screen names across the community. You probably know him best from his “Karaoke In The Cantina” feature. This is a sad day indeed. Mark will be missed.
If you would like to get to know the brother we just lost a little better, I invite you to check out his thread for his massive Autograph Collection in our forum.
