Sorry to say, but the issues we are having uploading images for our galleries hasn't been resolved. I even tried turning it off and turning it back on. So Chris escalated it to DEFCON 4 when he crafted a mildly worded text to a chatbot. He was later informed by the chatbot that, "Everything's fine here. We're all fine here." And then followed it up with, "How are you?" It turns out, everything is not fine here. So Chris disconnected and went back to shoveling his driveway.
Meanwhile, the Knicks woke up from their slumber against Atlanta, proceeded to stomp the crap out the Hawks, and then began their series against the Sixers (who shockingly came back from 3-1 to upset Chris's Celtics) by promptly going up 2-0. During the 5 game playoff win streak, the Knicks became the first team in NBA history to win 3 consecutive playoff games by at least 25 points. My biggest fear is that they peaked too early, because there's a long way to go. But for now, they're looking quite good.
So once, again, there's no real content today, but at least we have this fresh post on the front page. Since I've been largely absent from Banthaskull lately, even during the weekend reveals, here's my super quick reaction, in case anyone cares:
Clone Commander: It's about time. Easy repaint, but they probably should have just given us the TVC take on the old EE exclusives (like this one), and spared us the drip drip of getting one of the 4 colors shoehorned into a wave over the next god knows how many months/years. I ordered a handful. I think 4 or 5.
Plo Koon: Controversial sculpt that looks like many corners were cut. It's not a great figure, even if some sources might justify it as more accurate than we think. As usual, it should be a great upgrade, but the one we have from the TLC line in 2009 was quite good, despite some annoying flaws (no robe, loose mask, etc.). I don't think we needed a new Plo Koon, but what do I know. I'm sure this figure will look nice with the robe, but it certainly didn't seem like a home run that was going to make me change my mind about needing an update. Nevertheless, this will probably be the best Plo we ever get, even if it's only an incremental improvement, so I got a 2 or 3.
Luuke: I loved the Zahn books, and it was a nice treat to get that HTTH 3-pack, but I honestly have no interest in creating brand new scenes from the pages of novels 30 year old EU novels. This figure does nothing for me, and I wish the resources were put towards something more world-buildy. I got 1 because I have a sickness.
Anakin Skywalker: Another figure that does nothing for me. I don't collect packaging, and I'm not interested in EU figures. I know this is supposed to be a homage to the 096 Kenner figures, but once again, I feel Hasbro just modernized and error. I always believed that Kenner intended this to be a "Force Ghost" figure, but just didn't have the technology to satisfactorily pull it off. I don't think we were supposed to ever have a "living" redeemed Anakin. It's a dumb figure. I got 1.
Bodhi: I've been wanting this guy for 10 years. I should have not waited more than a few months. He should have been part of the collector line (non 5POA) when Rogue One was front and center. With Baze Malbus also coming 10 years too late, I'm glad to finally be able to complete this crew, but I'm more annoyed that it took this long than I am to actually be getting them. Maybe I'll feel better with him in hand. I got 3 to fill out my dioramas.
Geonosian 4-pack: This is the one I am most excited about. The figures look great, even if Geonosians are sort of the least desirable "bad guys" out there. I mean, they're bug people. Screw them! But if you watched TCW, you probably gained a little sympathy with that little Klik-Klak guy. I look forward to sprinkling them around my Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory Arena set that totally sucks. I ordered 4 sets.
Microseries Anakin/Assy J: I've said it before, and I'll said it again: Please stop making figures that are styled/painted like cartoons. I don't collect My Little Pony figures, so why should I collect animated-styled nonsense? It looks like these figures have great realistic sculpting, which is to my liking. BUT WHY DOES ASSAJ HAVE THE GIANT WHITE EYES? Because of that alone, she fails to fit into a regular diorama. Hasbro did this same take with those Walmart TVC Microseries figures from a few years back. They ruined perfectly good figures by painting them to look like mutant versions of themselves. Fail. FAIL! I got 1 set.
My interest is waning, while my bank account keeps taking hits. I'm the antithesis of "vote with your wallet." I'm sure I have a breaking point, I'm just not sure when.
Again, I'm holding out hope that I can do some major damage to my large existing dioramas with a proper 50th explosion for ANH and the OT. If Hasbro keeps on going with the "a little bit of everything" strategy, they'll end up pleasing no one - especially me.
