Okay, so I assume most of us have the feature end cap showing Vintage Collection pegs with the new DPCI of 087-06-2413 with a lower price of $8.99.
None of the Vintage Collection figures at my local stores scan to this new DPCI. The Phantom Menace figures with the stickered over UPC scan with “Item Not Found”. The glut of Wave 5 left overs still scan with the old DPCI of 087-06-1351 for a price of $9.99. So I headed to the scanner to key in the new DPCI to see if there were any in the back and this is what I saw:
What gives? Doesn’t the price ending with an 8 indicate a clearance price? It’s starting to feel like the new DPCI was intended to be a temporary DPCI for the promotion of the movie and it’s now aged out and heading towards clearance. That’s just an uninformed guess on my part. It would explain the stickers over the UPC symbols. Anyone have anything more than an uninformed guess, please let us know.
Update: Harold from Facebook writes: “The status of this DPCI IS clearance as of this week, these were either an old, or soon to be new code for “vintage” that was already d-coded when the product was set for the 1-30 release!”
