Hasbro said this wouldn’t happen. They said they learned their lesson from the Phantom Menace glut from 2012. But after only ONE wave of the Black Series, the playbook seems exactly the same. As wave 2 is imminent, the pegs at my local stores are backing up with wave 1 figure. For seemingly half a decade now, Hasbro says they’ve learned from their mistakes and then commit the exact same blunder. What’s worse is that the three problematic figures, Biggs, the Bike Scout and Anakin, are all carried forward into the next wave.
All of these figures have a place in the line, but simply not at the level Hasbro is shipping them. What’s sickening is that this was predicted in advance across the fan site realm. Hasbro, just quit trying to predict demand. You can’t do it. Stop carrying forward figures and make every case all new figures. Double up on the main characters (who aren’t Anakin) and make the secondary characters one per case. It’s not ideal, but it’s better than this mess.
