Lucasfilm is excited to announce that Johnson will create a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, the first of which he is also set to write and direct, with longtime collaborator Ram Bergman onboard to produce.
Johnson’s trilogy will be “separate from the episodic Skywalker saga,” Lucasfilm said in a statement. “Johnson will introduce new characters from a corner of the galaxy that Star Wars lore has never before explored.”
Also announced: plans for a live action TV series.

Disney CEO Bob Iger also gave an idea about pricing for the new streaming service. Via Variety:
he expects the Disney-branded streaming service to be priced “substantially below” Netflix’s $10.99 a month because the service will have less content overall. “The price will reflect that,” he said. “Our goal is to attract as many subs as possible starting out.”
Huge news, indeed!
The standalone movies and Rebels have so far explored the time between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. Perhaps a live action show will look into the event between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens?
