New Info/Rumors About Star Wars Video Games

EA gave 3 of its studios the task of producing Star Wars video games: DICE, Bioware, and Visceral.

The whole world knows about DICE's upcoming Battlefront 2. The much hyped and much anticipated game made a huge splash at E3.

There were recent rumors that Bioware, a veteran Star Wars studio, was looking to revive the much loved Knights of the Old Republic franchise. These rumors were shaky, at best, and have since been somewhat debunked. Current info suggests that Bioware is actually working on a non-Star Wars property at the moment, so any return of KOTOR may, unfortunately, be a very long way off.

That leaves Visceral. An unnamed Star Wars project is most definitely under way. Some information and rumors have surfaced, although substantial and concrete news may be unlikely for a while, at least until EA has Battlefront 2's release safely in the rear view mirror.

Here's what we do know: Jade Raymond, writer and executive producer of some of the early entries in Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed franchise, is going to produce the new game. She will team up with Amy Hennig, head writer and creative director of Sony's Uncharted franchise, who will write the story. Todd Stashwick, known within the nerdsphere for roles on TV's Gotham, 12 Monkeys, and more, will play the lead character.

Some rumors (unconfirmed!) about the story that have leaked: The setting is between ANH and ESB, the main character is an Alderaanian who dodged the Imperial draft after the Death Star attack, and he has taken to a life of questionable morals as he makes his way through the universe during the Galactic Civil War. His name may be "Dodger" (get it?), and he may need to interact with the scum and villainy of the galaxy's seedy and dangerous underbelly, possibly crossing paths with Jabba the Hutt, and possibly the Alliance itself, trying to profit off of everyone else's misfortune. The most recent rumor has the protagonist using a "light whip" as a grappler, in conjunction with a blaster as his weapon combo of choice.

It has been written that some of this sounds a bit like the once highly anticipated but cancelled Star Wars 1313 project. In honor of that, check out this clip of the killed off undertaking (or is it just mostly dead?)
