Our friends at Jedi Temple Archives recently penned this piece on the glacial sales rate of the second wave of the Mission Series. We wanted to chime in with our own observations.
I want to make sure I present all the facts in the interest of fairness, so that I don’t let the fact that I detest the cheapo 5 POA line spin the story. Over this past weekend, this particular Walmart store put out wave 2 of the mission series marking the first time it has appeared in the area. As of the following Thursday, all 12 2-packs are still sitting there. Not one has sold. In fairness, we had a major snowstorm yesterday which would have eliminated a day of commerce for all intents and purposes, but this same store would have had double the foot traffic on Tuesday when everyone was scrambling to pick up the two most important provisions during a storm: milk and eggs.
The fact that a new Star Wars 3.75” action figure product can make its first appearance in a region and not even sell one unit in several days is a new trend for the line in my experience. I have not personally observed this since I’ve been collecting. Usually at least ONE piece will sell by this point.
