How Star Wars Was Saved By Editing

Posted by Chris on 12/13/17 at 12:18 PM Category: Star Wars Movie News
Hi, Bantha Skull. It's your old pal, Pete Chris. I haven't posted in a while, but this video essay so concisely demonstrates the role editing played in the success of Episode IV, that I felt the need to share. We've previously written about the role Marcia Lucas (and others) played in shaping Star Wars, but even I didn't know how heavily the editing influenced the final cut. While watching the narrator describe the issues with the rough cut that were solved via editing, think about all the problems that plagued the Prequel Trilogy. Maybe with the rumored purchase of Fox by Disney, some gold can be mined from the PT with a new edit.

Editor's note: Chris!
