Hasbro’s HasLab Sail Barge Campaign

I honestly think this is the most exciting time for adult Star Wars collectors because of the new HasLab paradigm. There are many items for which there is large collector demand, but collectors alone do not ensure retail success. Many of the esoteric items we crave lack the recognition factor that would compel the average big box shopper or casual collector to purchase them. HasLab's crowd sourcing model elimnates that brick and mortar hurdle for bringing hardcore collector items to fruition. If you are not excited about this, turn in your collecting card. We finally get to put our money where our mouths are. The shackles are off! I'm telling you, GET EXCITED. Figures like Rycar Ryjerd, which would never have been released in the traditional birck and mortar paradigm, are now on the table. I feel like letting loose a Howard Dean scream.

With respect to the Sail Barge, I know some are suffering from sticker shock. All I can tell you is that as the presentation was being conducted, I started to have a panic attack. I was thinking, "Dear God, this thing is going to cost $800 to $1,000!" Yes, I would say I'm shocked that this only costs $500, especially when you consider that price includes shipping, and Hasbro is going to extreme lengths to ensure that the boxes arrive to you in as pristine condition as possible. They know the package is a critical part of the Vintage Collection experience.

I will have a lot more on this in the days and weeks to come, but trust me, if you are at all on the fence about this, you don't want to be on the outside of the campaign.
