Disney and Lenovo Team up for AR Star Wars

Posted by Bret on 07/17/17 at 05:58 AM Category: Video Games
It was revealed at D23 Expo this past weekend that a Star Wars AR experience will be coming soon. Users will be able to immerse themselves in vast battles, play holo-chess, or train as a Jedi. The latter game, called Jedi Challenges, will feature a lightsaber hilt as a controller as well as AR glasses that work with a compatible mobile device. As we posted almost 2 months ago, ILMxLAB is working on a full blown, high grade AR program for Star Wars, that is still a long way off. In the short-term, Disney wanted to bring a consumer friendly AR version to market. So far, there is no information on cost or a date for release, but according to the teaser, it seems likely this is a Best Buy exclusive, or at least Best Buy will have some kind of exclusive experience when it is released.

There's an official site, if you want to sign up for breaking alerts on this project.

Here's the teaser (and it really is a teaser - very little is revealed)...
