Action Figure Photography #4:  pinmanpix - Payton Inman

Posted by Bret on 08/25/17 at 07:09 AM Category: Action Figure Photography
Our next photographer is Payton Inman. Payton was kind enough to share his work as well as a bit about himself. He can be found on Instagram as pinmanpix.

Hello everyone! My name is Payton Inman, known on Instagram as @pinmanpix. I am from North Carolina. When I’m not taking college classes during the week, I live behind my camera taking pictures.

I started this Instagram page back in March. Not doing Toy Photography, but just following some accounts that I liked. Every now and then I would see people re-create certain Star Wars scenes and it would show up on my feed. I noticed that all of them were done with toys. I’m a huge Star Wars fan, so I had boxes full of Star Wars action figures from when I was a kid up in my attic. I decided to pull out a few figures and re-create my own Star Wars scenes, while making up some of my own.

Focus & Reality

When posting my first picture and using the hashtag “Toy Photography” that opened the gate and I walked right into this hobby. The amount of talent that I saw was just overwhelming, and inspired me to create and shoot some of my own pictures. I shot mainly on my iPhone, but not too long ago did I upgrade to a Nikon D3400. I mainly do outdoor shots. Shooting outdoors has its pros and cons, but I love it. It’s natural light and just being outside makes you feel good.

Last Jedi

The Toy Photography community is awesome. You connect with so many different people near and far. It might be silly, but I’ve built some great friendships over Instagram because of this community. There is so much talent out there and everyone is always helpful at answering any questions you may have about a shot they took. We are like one big family, honestly. It’s hard not to be inspired and fall into this hobby with the thousands of posts people put up daily.

Thank you for allowing me to share my work and thoughts on this amazing hobby and community!
