Who’s In The #FightForTVC:  Star Wars The Vintage Collection Facebook Group

I will be honest. I was settling into the narrative that 3.75" was on the way out as far as mainstream Star Wars viability. There's some sense to that. Eventually Hasbro would run out of things to make, and the number of people who want the "third Stormtrooper from the left" will naturally grow smaller the further the character selections get from the center of the screen. I view it similar to distance running. A lot of people will go a mile. Fewer will run a 5K. Only a rare few will run a marathon. Being active in this hobby for decades is marathon running. The longer it goes, the fewer we are in numbers.

Then I was jolted by something. It was the Facebook Star Wars The Vintage Collection Group. If you have a Facebook account, you should join. It was created by John Miko Avgoustakis with whom I have grown a friendship partially do to some geographic proximity. Once it's safe to go outside again, I'm sure we'll tip a pint or ten. The speed with which he cultivated a membership, which now stands at over 9,000, was a shock to me. We're not dwindling in numbers as fast as I thought. It's what gave me and others confidence that a grass roots TVC campaign could work.

John has a loyal team of admins, many of whom our readers are familiar with. Lando Griffin (if that is his real name!...It isn't) is well known to many of us from forums and Disqus. Paul, better known to the original Bantha Skullers as Since78, is the "Bantha Skuller left behind" in many respects. We couldn't convince him to make the jump to this hive of scum and villainy. Corey might not be as familiar to the Bantha Skull group because his time as the forum-ite Beagan started after our core had matriculated, but I've since learned that he is a variant and case assortment expert, as well as an unpunched card aficionado. MY GUY! Finally, you all better recognize Agustin. He provided most of our SDCC 2019 coverage.

The passion and, more importantly, the advocacy and evangelism from this group are the key in the #FightForTVC. Their collective alone could turn the tide in the campaign.

We are now in the next phase of the campaign. How do you #FightForTVC during this phase? If you haven't already done so, please sign and share the petition for Hasbro make more NEW TVC figures per year. When you share, be sure to use the hash tags #FightForTVC, #BackTVC and #save375. If you've already shared, give it a couple of days and share it again. YOUR passion is what will get this done.
