What I’d Like to See From the Presumed Cantina Denizen 4-Pack

There was a "soft reveal" of some additional Cantina Denizens coming to the line, made by the Hasbro team. Based on the tease, most fans are suspecting a 4-pack. No images yet, nor any info on the characters involved. So here's what I'd like to see.

Cantina tease

This was the teaser image that was revealed during he SDCC panel. Like the front page lead-in graphic that Chris made for this article, the shadows/silhouettes may or may not mean anything. It seems probable that all 4 characters are non-human, but who knows? Knowing our luck, the set is going to consist of Greedo, Another Greedo, A Third Greedo, and the Batman Symbol.

But this is an exciting prospect, and I hope the actual reveal lives up to expectations. We got the outstanding (but just short of perfection) Jabba's Court Denizens 4 Pack a couple of years ago. It included 1 long overdue resculpt, 2 character debuts, and a throw-in repack that held back the overall set from being the greatest thing in the history of things. Using that set as a model, I tried to think of a Cantina figure that might mimic that of Ree-Yees, but it's been so long since we got any Cantina aliens (aside from the ones we are getting right now) that I couldn't think of a candidate. [Editor's Note: Emily confirmed in a follow up that none of these teased figures are repacks.] So I'm going to toss that idea aside (good riddance), and just go for 4 new characters - which is probably a pipe dream since Hasbro loves resculpting stuff we already have. Aside from the Tonnika Sisters (which admittedly is incredible that we finally have them!), the Cantina Haslab and the entirety of the Return to Tatooine theme gave us ZERO debut characters - and that was a huge disappointment for me. So I'm hoping Hasbro realized the error of their ways, and will correct this travesty with this set.

There are a bunch of Cantina weirdos that we need, but these would make my ultimate 4 pack:

Arleil Schous

Arleil Schous

This was always my top wanted Cantina alien, and the fact that Hasbro had him worked up and ready to go for the Haslab was amazing. Losing out on his final tier was a gut punch that I think many collectors haven't quite recovered from. While I understand the potential ramification on the Haslab model if Hasbro simply releases a failed tier figure later on, I don't care. I want this guy in the Cantina...I need this guy in the Cantina!

Atheloe OR Ownellco

Atheloe or Ownellco

As we've discussed a few times, the Lutrillian species has appeared a few times in the saga. Most notably, there were two characters in the Cantina, but Lutrillians have also appeared in ESB on Cloud City, the Holiday Special, and multiple times in animated series and other media. Yet we've never had a Lutrillian action figure. So it's time. I don't really care which of the two gets made, but they are similar enough that the second one would be a relatively simple retool of the first.

Tzizvvt

Tzizvvt

I know this one is pretty dumb. It's a guy in a flight suit with a fly head that is barely recognizable in the film. We know him mostly from behind-the-scenes stills. But he's weird, and I can't imagine not loving having his figure in the cantina.

Baniss Keeg/Chachi De Maal

Baniss Keeg

We have Ellors Madak/Ohwun De Maal from the POTJ line. But his character is most notable because there are a pair of Duros hanging out together in the Cantina, and right now his loneliness in our cantina is upsetting. Sure he's outdated, but he exists, so I lean toward his partner for this 4-pack. You could do what I do and just have a second Ellors Madak figure and pretend they're different, but I have to admit that's a bit racist because not all Duros look the same. I mean, look at Cad Bane. He's very different because he has a hat. If he wasn't wearing a hat, I probably couldn't tell him from Chachi De Maal if you paid me. So he must be wearing the hat so people don't confuse him for another Duros. Anyway, I apparently haven't learned anything here, because I still think all Duros look alike. I also think they should go to their own schools, but that's for another conversation.

Honorable Mention

So that's my dream for this set. I wouldn't be upset if we got almost any other unmade Cantina aliens, but I feel if Hasbro really cared about me and my feelings, they'd just keep pumping out multipacks like this for me. I'd like a 4-pack of the "Spacers" (Danz Borin/Yerka Mig/Yellow Spacer 2/Unidentified Spacer), and a 4-pack of boring humans (Rycar Ryjerd/Debnoli/Garouf Lefoe/Jenny). And while I'd still prefer NEW characters, I wouldn't cry if Hasbro updated Labria (Kardue'sai'Malloc), BoShek, or Hrcek Kal Fas. Except for maybe Labria, I feel like almost all of these figures have close to zero chance of being made, and that makes me sad. But if enough people hold hands and give thoughts and prayers, we could get an 11-pack and then I could be like this guy:

Rangers 1994 Sign Now I Can Die in Peace
If they made all of these figures, I would feel the same way this guy did. (I can't believe this was 31 years ago)
