It seems like every livestream the subject of pitching troop builder packs comes up, and every time I freeze up like Ralphie talking to Santa.
If we get a 4-pack of footballs, you know who to blame. Since the next time I get put on the spot I'm going to draw a blank again, I should write these down. So that's what I'm going to do starting right...now.
So I feel like I've let the community down on this one. Not that we have any pull on the matter, but it's sort of like the expression, "you can't complain if you don't vote." With the Endor Bunker coming, we desperately need access to these critical figures to populate it, but I haven't been using this platform to make that point forcefully enough. And if it's not currently in the plans, this plea is definitely far too late for 2023. Four loose Endor Rebel Commandos just sold for $189. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY NINE DOLLARS!
I did pitch this figure for a trooper pack previously HERE, but it wasn't done so with enough "nerd rage" righteous indignation. I should have gone to the community's ace in the hole: acting like Hasbro was violating our constitutional rights by not making the toys we want.
The "the fans needs this" argument aside, getting unique head sculpts on army builders with exposed faces is always a win. The tooling on VC26 is a little dated. While I would gladly take an upgrade, these aren't main characters, so the existing mold is acceptable, just as it was with VC68 - Rebel Soldier (Echo Base Battle Gear).
Rebel Pilots
When VC158 - Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot) was released way back in 2019, it offered promise that it was a buck that could be repurposed to bring us a multitude of other figures. I even heard that by varying the length of the barbell used to connect the torso, different height pilots could be achieved without necessitating new tooling. So far the promise of multiple new pilot releases has netted us the lone Antoc Merrick.
It just so happens that some of the rarer pre-2018 figures are Rebel Pilots. Rather than simply re-releasing those pilots wouldn't it be a massive win to get them upgraded to this new buck? What would you say to a trooper back with Garven Dreis, Grizz Frix, John D. Branon, and just for some newness, how about one of the male Blue Suadron pilots from Rogue One (either Farns Monsbee or Vangos Grek). If Hasbro really wanted to blow me away, they'd give us Jaldine Gerams, but that would probably require too much new tooling for this format.
