Two Nerd Hollidays Collide This Saturday

A lot of events are occurring this year that may herald the apocalypse. We recently had a solar eclipse cut across the United States. We're currently in the midst of a rare cicada double brood that hasn't occured since 1803. And perhaps even more ominous, Star Wars Day and Free Comic Book Day are both happening this upcoming Saturday. Free Comic Book Day always falls on the first Saturday in May, and every so many years when the processional wobble of leap years and the Bablyonian seven day week synch, that Saturday is May the Fourth. It's a nerd confluence of epic proportions.

I usually attend FCBD each year. The bigger comic book stores take on a bit of a "con" vibe, and they usually have decent sales. That last time Star Wars Day and FCBD overlapped was 2019. My LCS (that's "local comic shop" to you normies) stocked a bunch of Star Wars figures. What's amazing is that they were mostly POTF2 and EP1 figures, but they were all case fresh. I gobbled up some choice Freeze Frame figures (still one of my favorite lines). I'm hoping history repeats itself this Saturday, but I doubt that particular lightning bolt will strike twice. Regardless, it will be a lot of fun to hit the trenches with my fellow nerds, especially since one of the free comics just so happens to feature and absolutely epic Star Wars cover:
