Whatever.
As the clock struck midnight here in Jersey, I went online and ordered the new TVC wave and Poe's X-Wing. But I wanted to try my hand at the ol' hunt again, so I headed out early to hit up a Target at open, and then to wherever the winds might have taken me.
I got to the first Target at just a couple of minutes past 8am. There was a small crowd of people hovering around the endcap, which was bare of TVC and 6" figures. I overheard that there were a couple of cases of TBS figures that were immediately picked clean. There were zero TVC figures available at all. All that was left were a lot of the GOA 5" figures, and a bunch of other nonsense. I started to leave and a stock person had just wheeled over a cart with some random items he picked up from the back room. He announced "This is all we have" and it was a couple of Black series figures and some other junk. He hurried away. I left the area on my way out and found him talking to another associate, "They're animals!" he said disgustedly. That was the highlight of my day.
Off to a second and third target, with more or less the same results. Nothing at all at the second target, but I did find most of the 6" wave (minus the Mandalorian), including a white box FO Trooper. Lots of GOA, but there was a TVC Snoke. I decided to pick up the 6" Off World Jawa. That increased my 6" figure collection by 25% from 4 to 5, and 3 of them are Jawas.
Decided to try my hand at Walmart. The first one had no Star Wars section at all, but strangely did have a badly crushed Luke X-Wing pilot TVC figure on a random peg along with some weird figures called Benders or something like that. So asked an associate where the Star Wars toys were. She said, "Star Wars? You mean the new stuff? Oh, that comes in next week." Great. This was going well. Off to a second Walmart. There, I found...nothing at all. The third Walmart actually had a Star Wars section. Along with a couple of TBS figures, plenty of GOA, and the Solo Vandor-1 set. Oh, there were those gold 5POA figures. I gave them the evil eye and left.
Next to the third Walmart was a Five Below. I stopped in and found the "lost" Solo wave for $3.25 each. So I picked them up. You know, to complete our galleries.
Finally, I hit up a Best Buy. No Mandalorian AT-ST Raider, but they had just put out a case of TVC. Rey, Poe, and Luke were already gone, but there was a Zorii Bliss, Knight of Red, and two Jet Troopers. I left the Jet Troopers, but picked up the Zorri and Knight of Ren, just to represent some kind of valid score, even though I already had them coming from Entertainment Earth.
That was it. Target and Walmart were essentially busts. It's possible that I missed TVC figures, but I get the sense that none were put out at any of those stores, except for the one Walmart that seemed to have "accidentally" put a case out. I should have stayed home, but I spent about $65 on stuff I didn't need, wasted about 3 and half hours of my day off and some gas. Sigh. I miss Toys R Us.
