First, I have to start out with a disclaimer since article titles tend to be taken overly literally. Titles, like memes, need to be concise, and thus can't always portray the full message. Darth Vader's TIE Advanced x1 is the only on-screen Original Trilogy vehicle that I don't own. I also don't own the POTF2 Luke's T-16 Skyhopper:
And you could nitpick me on that because the T-16 is technically on-screen in the back of Luke's garage:
But for the spirit of this article, that doesn't...doesn't count. It's more of a cameo appearance of a T-16. I also don't own these OT era EU miracles:
I know that by specifically saying "on-screen" I already eliminated those bizarre entries into the line, but I just wanted to take a somewhat gratuitous opportunity to remind that world that those things happened. They literally happened. But back on topic, two of my great Star Wars loves are 1) Darth Vader and 2) Star Wars vehicles. The latter is why I will only collection 3.75" for Star Wars. Given those two loves, you could almost take for granted that I own this:
Yes, it’s true, I don't own it, and it's not because that release isn't particularly good. (It isn't). The unnecessary guns and missiles in the wing struts, and the much too small cockpit window make it far from a good release, especially by today's standards, but on the other hand, it's the only one we have. The lone Y-Wing we have is no work of art, but I own it because I have no other choice. So why am I actively avoiding the only sculpt of Darth Vader's TIE Advanced x1 despite loving Vader and vehicles? BECAUSE I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IT HASN'T BEEN UPDATED AND I'M HOLDING OUT UNTIL IT IS! It's one of the few vintage Kenner vehicles that do not have a counterpart in the modern Vintage Collection:
I don't know what the hold up has been. It seems like something that could be done at a brick and mortar acceptable price point with built in nostalgia. Perhaps if the outstanding VC241 - Darth Vader (Dark Times) ever gets retooled for an accurate Episode IV release, we can finally get the accompanying vehicle. Oh, and it would be nice if they were on-shelf at the same time.
