Back The Bar Banner

It's been nine days since the Catina hit 5,000 backers. If we could tack on another K's worth of backers in the next nine days it would put us at 7,000 before the all important final three day rush, which is typically the busiest period for these campaigns. Hitting the 7K mark before then puts everything in play, to include Arleil. I'll be honest, based on the early trajectory, I wasn't expecting to hit 5,000 backers before hitting the final three days. So while the early numbers were less than we all hoped, the middle of the campaign has been more active than I would have anticipated.

This all goes to the notion that this campaign has been somewhat atypical. John Miko has published (and has been updating) one of his handy data visualization dashboards for this campaign HERE. I encourage you all to give that a walk though. At the top, you will notice a HasLab drop down where you can add the graphs for other campaigns. After the slow start for the Cantina, I've been saying that it was comping out to the Giant Man campaign. Giant Man had a slow start. It didn't back until the last day, but from there, it rallied and nearly hit both stretch goals (it fell just short). If you add the Giant Man graph to the dashboard, you can see how closely the early campaigns match one another, but the Cantina has been outperforming it during the middle stretch (likely due to the truncated campaign).

This should give us some confidence going forward for this campaign, but as I said, the Cantina trajectory has been somewhat atypical. Maybe an overperforming middle means an underperforming end. I'm not going to breathe a sigh of relief until the clock strikes midnight on July 9th and it has over 8,000 backers. One utterly massive challenge the campaign has is that next week containis a major American holiday with the 4th of July. Because of that, it's also a wildly popular vacation week. We will assuredly see some slowdown during this period. In fact, I bet we dip below 30 backers/day during this stretch. Also unfortunate is that the absolutely critical final three days starts on the Sunday after the 4th. People will be returning from vacation and long weekends. I'm not sure they will be in HasLab shopping mood. This campaign has faced a lot if challenges, and this will be another one. So please, if you're for the Cantina, keep up the evangelism on social media during this home stretch.
