TBS 6” Gamorrean Guard Still Available In Some Target Stores (And A Bonus Sixer Rant)

Posted by Chris on 03/10/19 at 08:30 AM Category: Target
In a recent discussion thread, I was somewhat surprised to learn that the TBS 6" Gamorrean Guard was still considered a hot collecting commodity. Due to distance, I don't frequent Target stores as often as I used to, but in my infrequent sampling, it seemed the Gamorrean Guard was readily available. I don't know if this can be chalked up to inconsistent distribution, a freak coincidence, or both, but I happened into Target for the first time in weeks yesterday, and low and behold, two TBS Gamorrean Guard figures were sitting there:

I bet Hasbro wishes they had a 3.75" Gamorrean Guard at brick and mortar right now.

As I was snapping that pic for verification, I happened to notice something that honestly left me a little frustrated. There was a full peg of this figure:

TBS Bespin Escape Leia
Why can't we have nice things?

The TBS Bespin Escape Princess Leia figures on that peg were covered in a healthy layer of dust. While I won't argue that this figure would be an instant seller in the TVC line, it would get much better support than this. It's why I will continue to contend that Hasbro has the paradigms of the two lines backwards. 3.75" is the world building breadth scale where there is support for costume variations such as this, and the 6" scale, in general, is suited to core characters. It's no coincidence that the only TBS line that has met no brick and mortar resistance is the 40th Anniversary Collection which was loaded with core characters (and the only peg warmers from that line weren't core characters).

Finally, some rebellious soul appeared to try to write "Filthy Sixers" in the accumulated dust on one of the Bespin Escape Leia figures, but his finger was too fat and he only had room for "Sixers". He shall remain nameless.

Filthy Sixers
Take THAT, Sixers!
