Star Wars: 1313 was a video game that was under development in 2012 by LucasArts, which was the in-house video game development company under LucasFilm. It was to be an M-rated title that focused on the seedier and grittier side of Coruscant’s lower levels. Fans were captivated. This would explore a corner of the Star Wars universe that we had never seen, and would be more geared toward adults. Then Disney acquired LucasFilm and promptly shuttered LucasArts, and with that, 1313 was canceled. We never get to have nice things! Here's the amazing thing. I'm willing to bet that almost all of you knew this backstory like the backs of your hands. How is that? This is an unproduced video game from nearly a decade ago, yet the name "1313" carries almost immediate recognition with Star Wars fans.

The fascination with this once-promised video game isn't limited to just the fans, either. Even within LucasFilm there seems to be some reverence for this title that never made it much past the prototype stage. In Clone Wars Season 7, there was a wink toward it. When Ahsoka Tano crashes her speeder deep in the recesses of the Republic capital, guess which level she ended up on (you'll need to click to read the subtitle)?

That's right. She lands on 1313.

In the game, you were to initially play as an unidentified bounty hunter who is soon killed by Boba Fett. From that point on, you would play as Fett, whose inclusion in the game was mandated by none other than George Lucas himself. Yesterday, previously unseen Boba Fett gameplay footage was released:

It looks pretty promising, and aspects of the platforming remind me of Jedi Fallen Order. At the time of the writing of this article, that video has racked up over 200,000 views in under 24 hours! 1313 remains an attention-getter. As recently as 2015, Kathy Kennedy said that Star Wars: 1313 may still be developed. Given the recent Boba Fett mania and the fact that this unproduced title has somehow stayed in the collective Star Wars consciousness for a decade, perhaps the timing is now get this game across the finish line.

Finally, I miss LucasArts.
